WWE has pulled its Superstars from a Southside Wrestling show, but Cody Rhodes and AEW may be coming to save the day.

It can be confusing for fans to know exactly how to feel about WWE. On the one hand, we hear stories about how Vince McMahon helped Harley Race financially during his final days. We also hear stories about McMahon and WWE paying for wrestler's rehab, even if they aren't employed by the company any longer. On a personal level, it seems as if WWE is mostly good.

On a business level, it's another matter entirely. McMahon's entire premise during the late 80s and early 90s was that he wanted WWE to be the one and only. It's why he gradually bought out all of his competition, ending with WCW in 2001. Some fans have accused WWE of doing something similar via NXT UK. There's a belief that part of the reason the promotion exists is to kill the British independent scene.

A current situation unfolding with Southside Wrestling has not helped that image. The promotion's 9th-anniversary show will be its last and was supposed to feature a number of NXT UK Superstars who have previously passed through its doors. However, it revealed on Twitter that all of those stars have been pulled from the show by WWE. Southside claims it asked permission and accepted all the conditions put in place.

Thanks to Cody Rhodes and a number of other AEW stars, all is not lost. Rhodes quoted the tweet breaking the sad news and wrote, "Let me see if I can help..." Since then, both Young Bucks have said they'll be at the show, each wanting credit for the idea, and Luchasaurus also replied by tweeting "tag me in."

With the Wednesday Night War between AEW and NXT just days away, this will be a huge check in the win column for Rhodes and co if they can pull it off. Rescuing an indie promotion that has been left in the lurch by big, bad WWE. A situation that is gathering momentum online as more and more AEW talent is throwing their hats into the ring. The war may not yet have officially begun, but we'd say its already advantage AEW.
