The WWE run of Daniel Bryan has seen him become a legend before our very eyes. Bryan has always had a great reputation in the industry as one of the best in the world. Fans were unsure of how the WWE run would go given the size and look of Bryan not fitting in WWE at the time. Bryan, however, won everyone over with his incredible matches, compelling promos and genius storytelling as a performer.

World titles, WrestleMania main events, and having the crowd rally behind him in a way that was never done before, Bryan has accomplished everything in WWE. His track record in WWE features mostly hits with a few misses. We will look at both sides when it comes to the feuds Bryan has been a part of throughout his career. These are the five best and five worst feuds of Daniel Bryan.

10 Best: The Shield

Daniel Bryan was consistently an important part of many teams that faced off with The Shield during their first year on the main roster. Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns all became stars in The Shield and working with someone like Bryan certainly helped them.

The first match of The Shield was a classic at TLC 2012 when they defeated Bryan, Kane, and Ryback. Bryan’s journey to the top featured an iconic moment where he teamed with Kane and Randy Orton to score the first team win over The Shield thanks to Bryan scoring the victory.

9 Worst: Heavy Machinery

The recent feud between Daniel Bryan and Rowan against Heavy Machinery was not the worst thing, but it was a huge disappointment. Bryan was coming off an incredible WWE Championship reign with his new character before moving into the tag division.

Otis and Tucker certainly have some potential as comedic acts, but they were not ready to share the ring with a talent like Bryan just yet. The tag feud felt like a huge waste of Bryan’s skills as the matches were lower on the cards. Bryan seems to be moving out of the tag division which is best for us all.

8 Best: The Miz

daniel bryan miz

The long feud between Daniel Bryan and The Miz has given them a lot of mileage. It started when Bryan joined the original NXT competition with Miz as his mentor. The two never got along due to their differences and eventually feuded after NXT ended.

Bryan won his first United States Championship by defeating Miz in a great match. They had their feud resurface when Bryan returned from retirement all these years later to have a couple of matches in 2018. Fans hope to see them face off again with the new dynamic of a face Miz and heel Bryan.

7 Worst: Big Show

Daniel Bryan won his first World Championship in WWE by using his Money in the Bank title shot to cash in on Big Show. The win for Bryan turned him from an underdog face to a smug heel overly confident after winning the biggest prize in WWE.

Big Show was his first feud since he used some shady tactics to steal the title from him. The feud was quite lackluster as there was not much chemistry there. They tried to go for the traditional big man vs small underdog style but that didn’t connect given their face/heel dynamic.

6 Best: Nigel McGuinness

There could be a full list on the feuds Daniel Bryan had outside of WWE during his time in Ring of Honor. Nigel McGuinness is the most important one and has to be included in a list about Bryan’s most meaningful feuds and rivalries throughout his career.

The two wrestlers left it all in the ring during their all-time great ROH rivalry. Bryan has referred to McGuinness as one of his favorite opponents in his WWE 24 special looking back at his career. Nigel’s injuries prevented him from joining WWE as a wrestler until he recently became a commentator for NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live.

5 Worst: Wade Barrett

Despite Daniel Bryan’s Money in the Bank contract win in 2011, WWE failed to build him up as a title contender in the following months. Bryan's first major feud featured him facing off against Wade Barrett in a battle of two talented mid-carders with main event potential.

Barrett was cooling down after failing to connect with fans after Nexus ended. The two had some impressive matches, but the crowd was silent for most of them. Bryan lost some of his momentum in a feud that did little to help either man.

4 Best: Kofi Kingston

The recent feud between Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston created incredible television. Bryan was in the opposite role from his rise as an underdog, this time playing the role of a heel who refers to his opponent as a B+ player. Kingston’s lightning in a bottle coincided with the perfect wrestler to wrestle.

Both wrestlers had superb chemistry that led to the classic match at WrestleMania. Kingston’s big win featured Bryan putting him over like a million bucks. Bryan revealed on Jimmy Jacobs’ podcast that he found more pride in his WrestleMania 35 loss than his WrestleMania 30 win.

3 Worst: Kane

Daniel Bryan and Kane worked well together as a tag team in Team Hell No. Their time together was great, but that wasn’t the case when they feuded against each other after the split. Kane was the first and only opponent to challenge Bryan for the WWE Championship after WrestleMania 30 before the latter vacated the title due to injury.

The segments between the two disappointed as WWE tried to portray Kane as a top monster heel again. Kane, however, did not have the world title appeal that made fans invest in him. The segments were hokey as WWE tried to recapture Kane’s '90s magic in a way that no longer connected.

2 Best: The Authority

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon became the rivals of Daniel Bryan in 2013. They united with Randy Orton to do everything in their power to keep the WWE World Championship away from Bryan with the explanation that he was a B+ player not suited for the main event.

Bryan produced magic as a genuinely endearing character the fans wanted to see succeed. WWE originally didn’t plan for Bryan to win back the title, but the fans felt they had to hijack the show with chants and jeers to support him. Bryan’s superb work against The Authority is how most fans will remember his career.

1 Worst: Sheamus

Sheamus v Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan and Sheamus had some great matches, which made it all that more heartbreaking to think back on all the terrible feuds they had together. The first one featured Sheamus ending Bryan’s United States Championship reign with a big match at WrestleMania XXVII getting bumped to the pre-show.

TheirWrestleMania XXVIII match was an even bigger disappointment as Sheamus beat Bryan in under 20 seconds to become World Champion. Fans turned on Sheamus shortly after and cheered Bryan. The two had another feud cut short due to Bryan’s injury in 2015 as they were never destined to have a good one.
