Even though we were glad that Daniel Bryan remained in the business during his hiatus, it sounds as if he hated every minute of it.

Two years ago during an episode of Raw, Daniel Bryan had to come to the ring, fight back tears, and announce to the world that he was being forced to retire due to a build-up of injuries. It's probably safe to say that all of us watching were waiting for a run-in, to be told that it was all an angle like Mark Henry's "retirement" was years earlier. Alas, it was not to be.

Thankfully though WWE was not without Bryan for very long. Although he couldn't wrestle, the former World Champion was brought back in to be the color commentator for the Cruiserweight Classic and also as the SmackDown Live General Manager. All of that happened pretty quickly after his retirement so fans were given no opportunity to forget about The Leader Of The Yes Movement.

It likely won't come as a surprise to most, but Bryan did not enjoy being the blue brand's GM. He wanted to wrestle, and went into a lot of detail about that time in his life on Talk Is Jericho last week. "I really disliked going to work every week," Bryan told Chris Jericho, "That was when I really started to say that I wouldn't accept this anymore, I'm going to come back."

Bryan didn't exactly hide the fact that he had every intention of one day returning to the ring. The former GM openly spoke about visiting various doctors in his attempts to get cleared, plus admitted that if WWE didn't eventually clear him then he would go elsewhere to continue his career once his contract was up. Thankfully it didn't come to that though and Bryan is once again a WWE Superstar.

At this point, just two months later, it feels as if Bryan has never been away. Now, another wrestler who has been forced to retire has filled his SmackDown Live GM shoes, Paige. The 25-year-old seems far more upbeat than Bryan ever did though. The former Divas' Champion undoubtedly wishes that she could still compete in the ring, however, for now, it seems as if Paige just appreciates still being able to be a part of WWE.
