The wrestler wearing the Creeper mask at the center of AEW footage that has gone viral has taken to Twitter to explain his actions.

AEW has put a lot of focus into what it is doing on social media and how to draw in new fans that way. Airing its secondary show exclusively on YouTube, continuing to build on angles that began on Being The Elite. This week something that happened on Dynamite might be getting more social media attention than anything in the company's history, but for all the wrong reasons.

This week's Dynamite closed with the ring filling with Dark Order Creepers. Those Creepers went about dismantling all the wrestlers in the ring and anyone else who came to help. That included Dustin Rhodes. A Creeper quickly took down Rhodes and began to punch him in the face, except on closer inspection, he was not punching him in the face at all.

The Creeper was punching the mat next to Rhodes' face, and not very convincingly. Since then, that video has been watched more than 1.5 million times. That's almost two and a half times as many people as watched the episode live. The clip has gained so much traction that the wrestler underneath the Creeper mask has felt the need to come forward and address the issue on Twitter.

His name is Arik Cannon, and this is what he had to say about the incident. "Dustin Rhodes is a legend, one of my all-time favorites, he was already bleeding, and I was just trying to take care of him," Cannon wrote on Twitter. Rhodes has since deleted his original tweet about what happened, citing that he did so because Cannon has come forward and explained what happened.

As for what Cannon has been through since footage of his punches went viral, the wrestler sent out another tweet asking fans to look at the responses. "The replies to this, range from ignorant/hateful, to an overwhelming outpouring of love & support," he wrote. On the plus side for Cannon, wrestling fans will forget about this pretty quickly. On the downside, it might take a little longer than usual due to it happening right before Dynamite went on a two-week break.
