Sean “Diddy” Combs announced this past Saturday on his 48th birthday on Twitter that he was changing his name to “Love” a.k.a. “Brother Love.”

Once Diddy made the announcement he received plenty of backlash from people. That criticism was especially harsh from wrestling fans since there is only one “Brother Love” to them and that is of course Bruce Prichard.

Prichard ended up replying to Diddy’s tweet.

The 54 year-old Prichard made his WWE debut back in 1988 as Brother Love.

Prichard ended up leaving the company in 1991, due to so many controversies around the country that had to do with televangelists. But he did come back in 1992. He didn’t leave until 2008 after being released by Stephanie McMahon, despite a long 22 year career with the company.

As you can see in the video below, Prichard’s character was highly entertaining and it’s something that I remember when I watched WWE wrestling at the time as a young child.

Once Prichard left WWE, he worked for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling from 2010-2013. Then he returned to Impact Wrestling/Global Force Wrestling in March of 2017 and then left just this past August.

Diddy posted the video below on Instagram claiming that he was only kidding when it comes to the name change. He said it was a part of one of his alter egos. He said that his fans can still address him by all of his other names, which include, Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy, Diddy and “Love.” It would be nice if he just picked one name.

I have a hard time believing that Diddy was joking. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was serious, but due to the amount of backlash he received, decided to backtrack from using the name.

It also didn’t help Diddy that Prichard responded to him on Twitter. We can chalk up an L for Diddy on this one after failing to give himself yet another stage name.

Comment below and tell us whether you think Diddy was only joking. Also do you think he was aware of Prichard being known as Brother Love during his WWE career?
