The Dudley Boyz are one of the most dynamic, beloved and legendary tag teams in the history of professional wrestling. Now, their legacies will be enshrined forever, as the WWE announced Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley will be inducted into the 2018 Hall of Fame:
The Dudley Boyz will join Goldberg in what's looking like a stacked Hall of Fame class. More names are sure to be announced in the following weeks. The induction ceremony is set to take place on Apr. 6 in New Orleans.
Originally, reports did tie Goldberg, Bubba Ray and D-Von to being inducted into this year's Hall of Fame class, so the news is no surprise at all. Few tag teams dominated and took the industry by storm like The Dudley Boyz, who revolutionized the division with their table smashing and high-flying maneuvers.
The Dudley Boyz first worked together in ECW back in 1996, where they'd go on to win a whopping eight World Tag Team Championships. Bubba Ray and D-Von then headed over to the WWF/E in 1999, where they helped launch The Attitude Era.
They feuded with top tag teams like The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian, which brought more relevance and excitement for the tag team divisions. With their epic ladder, table and other hardcore matches, The Dudley Boyz were an entertainment that wrestling fans had never seen before.
This iconic tag team lasted together for over two decades. In the WWE alone, they held the WWE Tag Team Championship once, and took home eight World Tag Team Championships. Pro Wrestling Illustrated also named them the team of the decade (2000-09), and the PWI Tag Team of the Year twice.
D-Von recently announced his retirement from in-ring competition and works backstage for the WWE, while Bubba (now 'Bully Ray') signed with Ring of Honor. Next up, the 2018 Hall of Fame ceremony.
