The numbers for week ten of the Wednesday Night War are in and the margin is so fine that the high numbers both shows achieved should be considered a win for wrestling.

After AEW Dynamite won the first seven rounds of the Wednesday Night War over NXT, it felt a little like there wasn't really going to be a war at all. Then WWE got fed up with being second best and pulled out the big guns. After just eight weeks. Following comments made by Triple H in which he described the whole process as a marathon, not a sprint.

Pulling out the big guns and having main roster stars show up on NXT TV worked like a charm. Weeks eight and nine of the Wednesday Night War will forever belong to NXT. Week nine, in particular, was a pretty resounding win. Some fans have attributed that to it being the night before Thanksgiving, with a large chunk of Dynamite's younger demographic not being at home.

The numbers for week ten of the Wednesday Night War are in and it's a return to the norm of the first seven weeks, but only just. 851,000 fans tuned into Dynamite, so almost 200,000 more than watched the show live the night before Thanksgiving. That certainly lends credence to the holiday theory being thrown around.

As for NXT, the black and gold brand also registered a higher number than it did last week. 845,000 fans watched the show live despite the Survivor Series angles surrounding its talent being over and done with. Even though the show was narrowly beaten in the ratings by Dynamite, a marked improvement despite the show featuring no main roster talent has to be considered a win.

Above all else, the figure shown above should be considered a win for the wrestling business. For almost 1.7 million people to be tuning in to a show that is still brand a new and another which is considered to be WWE's third brand is an accomplishment. There are almost as many fans watching NXT and Dynamite combined as are watching Raw on Monday nights, and that show is considered the flagship of WWE and has aired weekly for almost 27 years.
