Jerry Lynn, Justin Credible

The peak of the Jerry Lynn and Justin Credible rivalry started back in 1998 when both wrestlers were breaking out in ECW. However, fans started to view them as even bigger stars in 2000 when they entered the title picture.

Lynn and Credible had an impressive match at Anarchy Rulz 2000 when Jerry won the ECW World Championship for the first time in his career. Credible wasn’t as big of a rival for Lynn as Rob Van Dam was, but it felt fitting that he defeated him for the top prize.

8 Tajiri Vs Steve Corino

Tajiri, Steve Corino

One of the most underrated feuds from ECW’s final year saw Steve Corino’s heel heat leading to great work against Tajiri. ECW often let Corino go wild with his heel promos to get the audience livid at him.

Tajiri was the target of Corino ahead of their brutal match that became an instant classic for the diehard fans. The match put Tajiri on the map as a potential big singles star standing up to Corino in a violent masterpiece.

7 Francine Vs Dawn Marie

Francine, Dawn Marie

Francine and Dawn Marie were the two main women in ECW during the company’s final year. The run of Francine saw her playing both a face and heel character at various points managing the likes of Shane Douglas, Tommy Dreamer, and Justin Credible.

Dawn became her main rival in ECW’s final year primarily representing the Impact Players tag team before moving to Lance Storm as a singles star. Paul Heyman would find any excuse to book a catfight between Dawn and Francine as the two most popular women in the company.

6 The FBI Vs The Unholy Alliance

The two main factions of ECW in the final year saw the Full Blooded Italians and the Unholy Alliance facing off. Nunzio led the FBI with Tony Mamaluke along with the occasional appearance of Big Sal and Tracy Smothers.

4 Tommy Dreamer Vs CW Anderson

Tommy Dreamer, CW Anderson

The last few months of ECW saw CW Anderson getting the biggest push of his career in a feud against Tommy Dreamer. ECW fans loved Dreamer as much as any wrestler outside of Rob Van Dam due to his loyalty to the brand.

Anderson received huge heat from targeting Dreamer and actually getting to look strong. Dreamer was among the most selfless wrestlers of all time with the goal clearly meant to elevate a new star in the hopes that ECW would survive longer.

3 Rhino Vs The Sandman

Rhyno, The Sandman

The Sandman returned to ECW following a weak run in WCW and was still viewed as a top star to the fan base. Paul Heyman used that love to place him in a program with rising star Rhino for the ECW World Championship.

Sandman’s wife got involved as Rhino attacked her on a few occasions in vicious fashion to make it personal. The culmination of the feud featured Rhino winning the top prize as the final ECW World Champion after destroying Sandman.

2 ECW Vs The Network

Cyrus in ECW

Don Callis is currently making waves with Kenny Omega in AEW, but his peak heel run came in ECW two decades ago. The character of Cyrus the Virus saw him playing a representative of “The Network” blurring fiction and reality.

Cyrus claimed to represent TNN who was legitimately censoring and hurting the ECW product. Names like Rhyno, Steve Corino, and Tajiri had stints in The Network feuding with beloved personalities like Rob Van Dam, Spike Dudley, and Joel Gertner. The heat for the feud of ECW genuinely hating TNN made it exciting content.

1 Rob Van Dam Vs Jerry Lynn

The best feud from ECW’s final year was clearly the iconic rivalry of Rob Van Dam vs Jerry Lynn. ECW realized the two had special chemistry in 1999 and decided to double down by having them face off in 2000 as well.

The matches continued to deliver outstanding results as RVD was the face of ECW and Lynn was not too far behind them. ECW eventually turned Lynn heel for the main event of the final PPV where Van Dam once again pulled off the win.
