Despite a successful run in NXT, Shinsuke Nakamura has a detractor with a Hall of Fame Resume. After rising among the ranks as one of the top superstars and performers in NXT, Shinsuke Nakamura moved over to SmackDown and has already gotten over well with the crowd. He's also been part of the main event picture, having faced top talents like John Cena and Randy Orton (both whom he defeated) and Jinder Mahal.

Nakamura's incredible in-ring work has made him one of the most beloved superstars in the WWE. Given how he's only been on the main roster for six months, it's easy to believe he's just getting started on a memorable career.

But one WWE Hall of Famer isn't sold on Nakamura. That man would be Edge, who discussed his doubts on the Pod of Awesomeness with Christian.  Here is what he said, in part.

"It’s strange with Nakamura because, like you’ve said, we’ve seen his matches with AJ in New Japan and everything. With Randy Orton, I’ve seen it. With Sami, I’ve seen it. But that match too I really loved that match and after that anything else is going to be tough to live up to. I mean, maybe Nakamura will get there. Maybe...It just goes to show how different places to wrestle are completely different environments.”

Edge certainly isn't the first (nor will he be the last), WWE legend to express some doubts over the current superstars. But this is an interesting take from The Rated R Superstar, considering Nakamura is already over and appears to just be entering the prime years of his WWE career.

Considering he defeated both Cena (a man who almost never closes cleanly), and Orton, it's clear that the creative team is bent on pushing Nakamura to the very top. Unlike Roman Reigns and Bayley, Nakamura is a babyface who receives massive cheers from the crowds.

Nonetheless, it's still too early to guess what kind of career Nakamura will end up having in the WWE. One thing is for sure: He's off to a good start, even if one WWE icon isn't so sure about him.
