The wrestling world was abuzz over John Cena's challenge to The Undertaker last week but one former Superstar was not a fan of it.

For weeks now, if not months, John Cena has been dancing around the idea of challenging The Undertaker to a match at WrestleMania. In fact you could argue that it really began during the build to last year's WrestleMania. Then on Raw last week he finally just came out and said it. Suits backstage be damned Cena wants a match with The Deadman and he has issued the challenge.

As is pretty much always the case the promo from the sixteen time World Champion was a great one. It started with Cena venturing out into the WWE Universe, taking a sip of a fan's beer, and declaring that he would be watching WrestleMania along with them this year. Then the direction of the segment changed and Cena decided that he had nothing to lose by throwing down the gauntlet for a match with The Phenom on April 8th.

The reason the promo had fans fervently talking after it happened was because of some of the things that were said. Cena attacked The Undertaker's personal life, bringing his wife Michelle McCool and her posts of him on Instagram into play. That isn't something you typically do in a rivalry with The Deadman. A lot of people loved it but WWE Hall of Famer Edge revealed on his and Christian's Pod Of Awesomeness that he did not like the direction Cena went with it.

Edge explained on the latest episode of the podcast that he thought it 'just feels like one of those promos that should be nothing but serious' and that it was 'a very hokey delivery'. The Rated R Superstar acknowledged that's what Cena does but personally thinks for this rivalry in particular the action and the promos should be nothing but serious. Edge is certainly someone who knows a thing or two about both Cena and The Undertaker having heated and extended feuds with both men.

It is now less than three weeks until WrestleMania and at the time of typing this Cena's potential match with The Undertaker is not official. The Phenom has to respond to last week's challenge and if he says yes the dream match that we were beginning to believe would never happen will definitely be taking place. If any of The Undertaker's WrestleMania matches are going to be his last then surely it must be this one which it feels like WWE have been holding off on for as long as they possibly could.
