It's been over eight years since Edge was forced to retire early from the WWE, but several rumors have surfaced in recent weeks that suggest he could be making a comeback.

Earlier this month, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that there have been discussions about having Edge wrestle again. For what it's worth, the Rated-R Superstar denied a return to the ring on Twitter shortly after the report came out.

But according to the latest report Brad Shepard of Oh, You Didn't Know Patron (h/t Ringside News), WWE and Edge are working together in trying to have him come back for another match.

Citing a source, Shepard said that the former World Champion "is training for an in-ring return," although it wouldn't be full time. It's also believed that he could be ready to compete "by WrestleMania."

This would be a comeback for the ages if Edge managed to get back in WWE, but the Observer had noted in their previous report that a return to the ring hasn't been "confirmed."

Edge retired from the WWE in 2011 at the advice of doctors, who warned him that if something went awry, he would be risking paralysis and possibly death. That means WWE doctors will most certainly have to be 100 percent positive that he's good to go before they clear him.

Edge was one of the top main eventers and heels during his time in WWE, specifically in the Ruthless Aggression Era. He won four WWE Championships, seven World Heavyweight Championships, the 2005 Money in the Bank ladder match and the 2010 Royal Rumble.

A Return Is Looking More Likely

For the longest time, it seemed like a return to the ring for Edge was simply never going to happen. But his recovery has gone well, and his body has been well-rested. Couple that with Edge reportedly training to get back in the ring, and the signs are slowly pointing towards him doing at least one more match.
