This week's Raw went off the air following one of the most brutal yet brilliant WWE segments in years.

Drew McIntyre winning the men's Royal Rumble match was great, but it wasn't the biggest and best moment of the bout. That honor went to Edge and his triumphant return this year and let's be honest, it trumps most of the big Rumble moments from the past few years. On Raw, we got to hear from the Hall of Famer about his return to the ring after nine years away.

Edge delivered an emotionally charged promo, revealing that he is back for good, but also that he knows better than anyone that he has no idea how long this run will last. The Rated R Superstar reeled off a number of opponents he hopes to meet now that he is competing again, and was eventually interrupted by Randy Orton.

Edge and Orton formed an alliance during the Rumble match before the former turned and eliminated the latter. The Viper appeared to have already let that go, suggesting they reunite Rated RKO. Orton then turned, delivering an RKO to Edge and beating him down in what was a brutal and hard to watch segment to close out Raw, ending with a concerto to an already down and out Edge.

WWE has released footage of what happened after the show went off the air, which you can check out above. Don't worry, Orton doesn't go back for more. He does climb up to the second rope to strike a pose as fans rain down boos on him, though. Meanwhile, medical professionals tend to Edge in the background and wheel the 11-time World Champion out of the arena on a stretcher.

Various Superstars check on Edge as he is wheeled through the backstage area to the ambulance including Rey Mysterio, R-Truth, and his close friend Natalya. The assumption is that this violent altercation between Edge and Orton is leading to a WrestleMania showdown between the two. However, with a Saudi Arabia show slated to take place in February, there's a very real chance we see that match much earlier.
