Edge recently had the perfect response to a Twitter user who questioned why wrestlers take pride in winning championships.

From the outside looking in the world of professional wrestling probably seems like a pretty strange place. Millions of people around the world watching overly dramatic storylines play out and culminate in pre-determined battles happening in the ring. If you're a part of it and you get it though then you know how great wrestling can be and the sacrifices that those performing it make.

That's why when someone questions what the men and women of the industry do in any way fans and wrestlers alike understandably get quite defensive. Yes the matches are staged and the results are pre-determined but that effectively just makes it a unique blend of live theater and combat sports. Whatever you do don't call the business fake and don't do what a Twitter user did recently.

Said Twitter user questioned why pro-wrestlers brag about and feel prideful about championships they've won during their careers. The person in question equated it to Tom Hanks bragging about fighting in Vietnam even though it was a character that he played in a movie, Forrest Gump, that did it. WWE Hall Of Famer Edge jumped on these comments and gave the perfect retort.

The Rated R Superstar, who won 11 World Championships during his career, explained that being chosen to be a champion is the result of a lot of hard work. Edge then went on to say that Hanks is probably pretty proud of winning an Oscar for his role in Forrest Gump, but asked the user who made the original statement whether that doesn't count because the movie is scripted.

Clearly the Twitter user in question caught Edge on a bad day as the former WWE Superstar pointed out at the end of the rant that he was cranky. He makes an extremely good point though and one that anyone involved in the industry would likely agree with. Wrestlers aren't given the opportunity to win titles on a whim and only those who deserve it, for the most part, become champions.
