WWE is constantly changing and one of the biggest ways the company does that is with the people on the roster with talent often coming and going as Vince McMahon looks to keep things as fresh as possible.

However, every so often a wrestler sticks around on the roster for a long period of time and manages to make a big mark during their time, whether that be memorable storylines or fantastic title runs. Then, when the time comes for them to retire or simply move on to new adventures it leaves some of the most emotional moments in WWE history that can't be scripted such as Edge's retirement from the business.

Right now, WWE has plenty of wrestlers on the roster that are coming to the end of their runs and with WrestleMania season fast approaching, the Grandest Stage Of Them All might be providing a few emotional goodbyes that wrestling fans need to prepare for. It'll be difficult to say goodbye to certain names, but we all know that the time after WrestleMania every year is the time for new beginnings.

So, fear not! While there are some wrestlers that WWE might need to get the tissues out to say goodbye to, the company will certainly have plenty of new faces ready to replace them and within this article, we will look at examples on both sides of that spectrum.

20 Emotional Goodbye: John Cena

David M. Benett/Dave Benett/WireImage

He might have mocked The Rock for leaving wrestling for so many years to seriously pursue his acting career but since doing that, John Cena has followed in his footsteps, breaking into Hollywood and leaving the WWE behind.

Cena has tried hard to come back more than The Rock ever did and to his credit, he hasn't missed a WrestleMania since starting his acting, but that could all be about to change as he becomes a bigger name and his schedule gets more hectic.

WWE no longer relies upon Cena in the way it once did and therefore this could be the time when Cena walks away from the company to really push his acting. A return down the line for a dream match against WWE's next big star could happen in the same way that The Rock did to work with him.

19 New Signing: Kenny Omega

via pinterest.com

It's a tough task to replace John Cena and some might even call it impossible after being the face of the company for so many years but if WWE really wants to do that then they will have to go for the biggest name available to them.

That man, is current IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Kenny Omega. The Cleaner is arguably the best wrestler in the world and has fantastic charisma with a huge following to match and WWE would be smart to sign him as soon as possible.

Right now it is highly speculated that the company is looking to bring Omega and his Elite brothers in, so it looks like this one might be more likely than many people think. Omega could likely to have a similar run to AJ Styles when he does arrive; creating another top star.

18 Emotional Goodbye: The Bella Twins

via wwe.com

It has once again been rumored that the female tag team championships are on the way and that WrestleMania might be the time for that to happen, which if it is true, could see The Bella Twins make another appearance for the company.

Putting the twins in a match for the titles would be a good idea given that they can work as heels or as babyfaces and they have a natural chemistry together and make sense as a team rather than two wrestlers just thrown together.

However, both women have certainly started winding down their careers, both already having their respective 'final moments' as singles wrestlers and having that moment together at WrestleMania would be a great way to say goodbye to their fans.

17 New Signing: Viper

via WWE.com

It was a surprise to many fans that WWE didn't sign Viper, or Piper Niven as she was known due the first ever Mae Young Classic, as she was one of the biggest stars from the first tournament.

Viper offers WWE something totally different to what is currently on the roster with only Nia Jax having a slightly similar look, but the Scottish wrestler has far greater ability in-between the ropes and is one of the best around right now.

Even though WWE didn't sign her straight away that doesn't mean all ties have been cut between them and her, with WWE still having a very good relationship with ICW, one of her home promotions, there is still hope for a full-time deal.

16 Emotional Goodbye: Zack Ryder

via wwe.com

Zack Ryder has always given 110% to the WWE and while the company might not have recognized that all the time, the WWE Universe certainly did which is why fans would be very emotional to see him leave.

Even though he is a company man, it's been years since Ryder was last relevant and he is now barely even used on WWE TV outside of Main Event tapings which is a sad state of affairs for someone who was once the most over man in the company.

Ryder has all the ability and certainly the fanbase to go on and follow in the footsteps of a Cody Rhodes and try and become a bigger star outside of the company. That desire may create an emotional goodbye without him even having a big moment on TV.

15 New Signing: Jay Lethal

via ewrestling.com

Speaking of people who are loyal, Jay Lethal has been exactly that but outside of WWE. Lethal has been loyal to the likes of TNA and Ring Of Honor, being the top star everywhere he has gone but hasn't had the chance to be in WWE.

Lethal is an incredibly experienced talent, something that Triple H tends to go for when picking names for NXT as signings like Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens proved and he certainly fits that stereotype.

Lethal has seen it all and been a big star everywhere and that is because he has great in-ring talent and charisma, but it would be a huge shame to never see him on the biggest stage possible at some point.

14 Emotional Goodbye: Big Show

via wwe.com

A lot of people thought that Big Show's in-ring career had come to an end before he randomly appeared to help The Bar become Tag Team Champions on the SmackDown 1000 show and the giant has enjoyed his new role with the duo ever since.

Big Show hasn't had to compete too much and has mainly been used as an enforcer on the outside helping the team retain the titles and get cheap victories against their opponents, but it feels like this could be setting up a final goodbye for him.

A legend like Big Show deserves a better send-off than the Andre The Giant Battle Royal and hopefully, WWE can provide him with that this year before he rides off into the sunset, going down as wrestling's greatest big man ever.

13 New Signing: Chris Jericho

via wwe.com

Now, this technically isn't a 'new signing' as Chris Jericho is one of the biggest veterans in wrestling today but it has been a while since he has been an active performer in a WWE ring after spending 2018 as a top New Japan Pro Wrestling star.

However, Jericho has always insisted that he is a Vince McMahon guy and there's no doubt that he will want to finish his career inside a WWE ring for the company where he made his name.

Y2J might have seemingly endless energy but at some point in the near future, he will be looking to slow things down and finish his in-ring career as father time catches up with everyone. Seeing him return for one final run with the company might be in his future plans after wrapping up his New Japan commitments.

12 Emotional Goodbye: Paige

via wwe.com

Not every emotional goodbye has to be a long-term one and Paige's wouldn't be that. We have already had an emotional moment with the Anti-Diva when she announced she had to retire from wrestling, but it might not be long before she is off TV for a while.

Paige was placed straight into the role as SmackDown Live General Manager following her retirement which was a great idea by the company and she has done a fantastic job in that position ever since.

However, the thing with General Manager positions is that they aren't around forever as WWE likes to change things up frequently. With WWE's big deal with FOX coming up next year, a new GM might be needed to make SmackDown as fresh as possible, which would mean a break from Paige for the first time since her emotional news.

11 New Signing: Tessa Blanchard

via wikidata.com

Much like Viper earlier in the list, it was a big surprise that WWE never signed Tessa Blanchard following the inaugural Mae Young Classic as she was one of the biggest names heading into the tournament.

Blanchard has competed in NXT plenty of times and is a third generation superstar, something that provides her with plenty of connections, but for one reason or another, the deal hasn't been done yet.

That doesn't mean WWE won't sign her though as Blanchard is one of the top performers outside of the company, something she has proven time and time again and eventually, she will do that on the biggest stage possible.

10 Emotional Goodbye: Goldust

via wwe.com

It will certainly be a sad day when Goldust decides to hang up the boots and that day is certainly around the corner with injuries catching up to him. Goldust himself has admitted that his knees have started to give up on him.

While he's working hard on making a comeback it's unlikely WWE will push him heavily upon that return and having one more WrestleMania moment before transitioning into a backstage role might be the best thing for him.

It has been an incredible career for Goldust that has been packed full of highs and lows which he has always owned up to, but given the number of amazing moments he has provided the fans, it will be emotional when he isn't around.

9 New Signing: Marty Scurll

via culturedventures.com

He might not be gimmick heavy like Goldust, but Marty Scurll has tons of personality and charisma which he can back up in the ring with his fantastic in-ring ability, making him a perfect signing for WWE.

The company has pushed hard to bring in plenty of UK talent with Scurll being one of the biggest names that WWE couldn't get due to him being under contract with Ring Of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

However, with his contract set to expire in January, WWE will be circulating to try and pick up Scurll and bring him into the company where he will certainly be able to make a big impact.

8 Emotional Goodbye: Brock Lesnar

via wwe.com

A lot of fans might complain about Brock Lesnar because he isn't around every week and doesn't even defend the title on each PPV, but the fact remains he is one of the greatest to ever step into a wrestling ring.

He's unlike anything that there has ever been in wrestling and that star power is almost impossible to match and will be very difficult to replicate when he goes, and that departure could be very soon after WrestleMania.

It's no secret that Lesnar is heading back to UFC in 2019 and when that happens his WWE career will be coming to an end, and while there might not be tears straight away, people will quickly realize what the Beast brought to the table when it's gone.

7 New Signing: Pentagon Jr

via twitter.com

It seems like this one is going to be happening sooner than later with Triple H is known to be very interested in signing Pentagon Jr, who has become one of the biggest names outside of WWE.

Pentagon would be an incredible addition to the WWE roster as he has a unique gimmick and an incredible look that is different to everything else in wrestling right now. With the ability to play a heel or a babyface, he ticks all the boxes that WWE looks for.

Pentagon has proven he's good enough to be a main event name and carry a company as he has done it with both Lucha Underground and IMPACT Wrestling and might just do the same with NXT sooner than later.

6 Emotional Goodbye: The Undertaker

via wwe.com

Everyone always expects each WrestleMania to be the final resting place for The Undertaker character, yet each year The Deadman rises again for another match, but this year certainly feels different.

After competing several times already this year, earning some fantastic paydays and finishing off his greatest storyline with Shawn Michaels, it feels like a fitting time for The Phenom to finally retire and allow his legacy to do the talking for him.

It's clear that he's in pain when he wrestles and it would make sense for him to take that burden away from himself, especially with 'Mania being in New York, the spiritual home of wrestling. If Undertaker can put one final talent over and walk away it might be the best thing for everyone, but that will certainly be an emotional moment.

5 New Signing: MJF

via twitter.com

He might not be a direct signing to replace The Undertaker, after all, nobody could do that, but MJF is someone that WWE is likely looking at as he is a real blue-chip prospect that could potentially have a very long career with the company.

MJF is only just breaking into the business in terms of getting recognized but he really is one of the top heels in the game right now. Therefore WWE will be wanting to get their hands on him before he gets picked up by another top promotion.

He has his gimmick nailed down unlike many other people on the independent scene who let their wrestling do the talking for them. MJF is a fantastic on the microphone and on social media and could be set to join NXT in 2019.

4 Emotional Goodbye: Ronda Rousey

via wwe.com

It was last WrestleMania when Ronda Rousey burst onto the scene, making her in-ring debut in what was the match of the year and she hasn't looked back, putting on incredible performances and bringing plenty of star power to each show she appears on.

The former UFC star has been far more involved than what many originally thought, appearing on nearly every episode of Raw and plenty of PPVs along the way; despite most people believing she was going to work a Brock Lesnar style schedule.

Sadly, when Rousey first signed it was speculated to be just a one-year deal, which means that come WrestleMania, it might be time for Ronda to walk away. While WWE is likely going to do everything in its power to keep her for much longer, Rousey made it clear when she signed that she wasn't going to be wrestling for all that long.

3 New Signing: Paige VanZant

via usstockinfo.com

While one former UFC star might be on her way out of the company, another might be on the way in as WWE is very interested in signing Paige VanZant on a deal to start her wrestling career.

VanZant might not have been the megastar that Rousey was in UFC, but she was still a very big name that has a huge fanbase behind her and has been linked to WWE for quite a while now.

VanZant would be an excellent addition to the women's division and after all of WWE's other recent acquisitions from the world of MMA have gone down well, the company is likely going to push hard for this one.

2 Emotional Goodbye: Jeff Hardy

via wwe.com

When it comes to emotional goodbyes a tough one that fans might have to prepare themselves for is of Jeff Hardy who could be looking to wind things down when it comes to WrestleMania 35.

Just like his brother Matt, Jeff has put himself through a lot of punishment throughout his career and it is now taking its toll, with Hardy visibly working through some pain, just like his brother was earlier in the year.

Hardy always stated he wanted to wrestle a Hell In A Cell match and he has been able to tick that off the bucket list and therefore there is little for him to still achieve, so seeing him retire as well wouldn't be a big surprise but would be an emotional moment.

1 New Signing: Cody Rhodes

via tumblr.com

While WWE fans might be emotional to see the final active Hardy brother retire, WWE will be looking to cheer up the fans with the return of Cody Rhodes who has become one of the biggest names in wrestling right now.

WWE is certainly looking to get its hand on Cody and bring him back into the company as he has become far too popular to not be someone on WWE's radar. He has teased the move plenty of times himself and has always made sure that no bridges were burned following his departure.

Cody would walk back into WWE as a top main event talent as well which would be a huge boost to WWE's programming and would ensure he proves everyone wrong who said he wasn't good enough in the first place.
