Erick Rowan enjoyed a fantastic push in 2019, which was arguably his best year as a WWE Superstar. No longer relying upon the Wyatt Family, Rowan got the interest of the fans with his run alongside and then against Daniel Bryan.

Towards the end of the year heading into the start of 2020, Rowan has had fans talking again with his mystery cage. Nobody quite knows what to expect each time he appears, but it's clear that WWE is holding a big mystery back.

We have recently seen the cage leave some people bloody, leading to even more speculation about what is inside it, but nobody truly knows. However, that hasn't stopped the fans predicting it, and in this list, we will look at 10 fan theories as to what is inside.

10 Sheep Mask

How WWE would get this to be something that has caused biting and blood would be difficult, but a sheeps mask or head is something that has been speculated about online.

This is mainly due to Erick Rowan's past when he used to appear in the Wyatt Family with the mask on his head. It would be an interesting way of bringing some of his past back into his current character.

Rowan being able to bring back his old gimmick in a newer, modern way could be a fun twist if the mask is perhaps slightly updated in some manner.

9 A Creature

While it's hard to pinpoint exactly what this could be, having some form of a hideous creature inside of the cage would be the most interesting option WWE could take here.

There's a reason Mojo Rawley acted so scared when he got to see what was inside the cage. Therefore whatever is inside needs to live up to his reactions, which is why a creature of some sort would make sense.

Perhaps being an audio-animatronic of some sort that is simply a hideous little beast would be an interesting idea. It could easily bite and spray blood out which we have seen, and it would be very interesting.

8 A Rat

WWE might not go to the trouble of creating a fake creature for Erick Rowan, just in case things don't work. Having a rat might be something that wouldn't be as expensive and would still be impactful.

This is an animal that many people are scared of, therefore it would have the desired effect that fans want to have from something like this. Making opponents and the fans think he is unhinged is what the company is going for.

This might not be the most exciting thing to be inside the cage, but it's a realistic option that WWE could pull off every week fairly easily.

7 Luke Harper's Head

This might be a step too far for WWE's PG company, but if WWE really wanted to shock people and get some major attention to Erick Rowan, then having Luke Harper's head inside might not be a bad shout.

We have seen WWE go down this route with The Fiend's head lantern and WWE could easily create a very similar situation for Luke Harper.

This would tie up a storyline as to why he has now gone, and it would make Rowan look like one of the scariest people on the roster. That would also explain why he talks to it so much because he and Harper clearly had a bond.

6 A Baby

While this obviously wouldn't be able to be a live baby, having some form of a creepy doll or child-like creature would be very strange to have inside the cage. It would make people freak out and would make sense as to why he talks to it like a child.

How WWE could take this into a storyline is unclear, but it is something that has been rumored by fans. Babies can bite and that would explain the segments we have seen with the blood.

If WWE could make a real storyline out of it, making him unhinged, then that would certainly be an interesting way to take Rowan's character further.

5 Just A Camera

This would be a disappointing decision on WWE's behalf and wouldn't make sense in terms of how Mojo Rawley reacted to the inside of the compartment. However, having just a camera inside would be something they might do.

It wouldn't make sense as to how Erick Rowan sold his injury from it either. However, WWE can be very anticlimactic at times and this would certainly fit that bill.

Having something that sprays blood at people would also be possible and perhaps they could go down the route of Rowan believing something is inside, much like when Kane thought he was burnt.

4 Nothing

While this would certainly annoy a lot of WWE fans, it isn't unlike the company to not reveal things that they tease. After all, who remembers the infamous lockbox during the Shane McMahon and Undertaker feud that we never found out about?

WWE often likes to give up on gimmicks and storyline ideas before firmly committing to them, so it wouldn't be a shock for that to happen. Having nothing inside the box because they can't think of an idea would not be a surprise.

This would be a disappointment though as fans have gotten interested in this gimmick and it would hurt Rowan's character if it just disappeared randomly.

3 A Dragon

An animal of some sort does seem like the most popular option amongst fan theories online each week that it pops up, and a dragon would certainly be a unique option for WWE.

Obviously, this would have to be a bearded dragon of some sort due to the size of the cage. However, there's no reason that WWE can't get some amazing visuals and cool moments with that.

Using it to scare opponents in matches, especially when he starts to face tougher opposition would be an intriguing storyline prospect and something that feels fresh.

2 A Bray Wyatt Puppet

While we stated that Erick Rowan has finally broken free from the Wyatt Family in the past year, establishing himself as a singles wrestler, that doesn't mean that the company won't drag him back.

Having someone doing The Fiend's bidding on Monday Night Raw would be quite a unique prospect for a storyline, so potentially having one of the Firefly Funhouse puppets inside might be interesting.

Either Rambling Rabbit or Sister Abigail would be the best option for this one, and it would work in terms of long-term storytelling due to their history.

1 A Snake

A lot of fans believe that it is going to be a snake that is inside of the cage. After all, it would certainly fit inside, so that makes sense and the animal is something that could bite and cause bleeding.

This is also something that WWE has done in the past, which is why some fans think it is possible as it would be a callback to Jake Roberts' career. They would have to do something different from that, but it would be a fun nod to that past character.

Eventually, Rowan could allow the snake to leave the cage and use it to scare other opponents, adding something unique to the show. This worked wonders for Jake Roberts, so there's no reason it can't for him either.
