After doing his final tapings for Impact Wrestling last week, major star EC3 (Ethan Carter III), became a free agent - and reports from PWInsider instantly tied him to joining the WWE.
According to Andrew Ravens of eWrestlingNews.com, EC3 was seen at the WWE Performance Center on Tuesday - suggesting he's already joined the company. Its is not known how long he will have to perform there before he gets the call-up.
Its also worth noting that WWE signed the War Machine tag team, and the pair are reporting to the Performance Center.
Former Impact stars like EC3 often need to wait until they get to join the main roster. Rockstar Spud signed with the WWE (after a visa issue led to his release from Impact), in October, but has yet to debut on SmackDown Live or Monday Night Raw.
Though EC3 appears to be on his way to the WWE, another former Impact Wrestling star in Bobby Lashley was rumored to return to the company. But Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Lashley had beef with former official Michael Hayes, and left the company under bitter circumstances.
EC3 worked in WWE under their NXT brand, but never joined the main roster and left for Impact Wrestling in 2013. There, he became one of the top superstars in the promotion - joining Dixie Carter's "Team Dixie" stable, while winning two TNA World Heavyweight Championships.
EC3 and Lashley were arguably the company's top two stars leading up to their departures, and replacing them won't be easy. Impact has undergone major changes since being purchased by Anthem Sports & Entertainment, which has included bidding farewell to many of their top talents.
But Vince McMahon has never been afraid to add a big name from a rival promotion. Te return of the Hardy Boyz and the addition of AJ Styles have been home runs. Signing EC3 should only bring positives for the WWE.
