Nationwide Arena may have spoiled John Cena's involvement at the Fastlane pay-per-view.

Over the summer, WWE announced that when John Cena returned, he would be a free agent. That meant even though he had been drafted to SmackDown Live, he would now be able to move freely between both Monday and Tuesday nights, a privilege not currently afforded to any other Superstars on the roster.

The reason for doing so quickly became clear. While the plan was to have Cena battle Baron Corbin at SummerSlam, which is indeed what happened, directly after that they wanted their franchise player building up a marquee match with Raw's Roman Reigns. A WrestleMania worthy match that for some reason wound up happening at No Mercy, likely because WWE has other plans for both men on April 8, 2018, in New Orleans.

That has become even clearer with the latest news revolving around Camp Cena. According to an advertisement from the arena playing host to the event, WWE Fastlane will feature the 16 time World Champion. This year Fastlane will be a SmackDown Live only pay-per-view so whatever John Cena is up to around that time, it looks like it will all be taking place on Tuesday nights.

This isn't the first news that has been leaked about Fastlane even though it is still over two months away. Rumor has it that the main event of the show will be a fatal five-way match between AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens for the WWE Championship. That match is still being advertised on the Nationwide Arena website, where Fastlane is taking place, as well as the news that John Cena will be appearing at the event.

It's understandable that both the arena and WWE will want to sell as many tickets as possible for all of their events ahead of time, but doing so in this way takes away from the product between now and then. Advertising the fatal five-way match gives away the creative direction that WWE is headed in, plus we now all know that Cena will likely be involved in a SmackDown Live match at WrestleMania 34 as opposed to a Raw one since Fastlane is just four weeks prior to The Showcase of the Immortals.
