Despite all signs pointing to it, Finn Balor won't team with Bayley for the Mixed Match Challenge.

Finn Balor will get a chance to prove he's "over," when he teams up with Sasha Banks in the Mixed Match Challenge. They are the latest tag team announced for the upcoming tournament, as announced on WWE's YouTube channel.

While they'll definitely make for a good pairing, fans were rooting for Balor to be paired with Bayley. The two shared an interesting relationship in NXT coming out to each other's music when they were the faces of the brand, and recently, WWE teased the possibility of the two teaming on their YouTube channel.

Balor and Banks are one of four teams to be confirmed for the tournament. The others are Alexa Bliss and  Braun Strowman, Lana and Rusev, and Charlotte and Bobby Roode. The challenge begins on Jan. 16, 2017 and the winning team will be granted $100,000 that will be donated to a charity.

Though The Demon King and The Legit Boss haven't been used together on-screen/in storyline, they should make more an awesome pair. Both are among the most decorated in-ring performers and are among the biggest fan favorites in the WWE.

Banks and Balor are two superstars heading in different directions, regarding their careers. Banks is a four-time Raw Women's Champion and has already established herself as one of the major faces in the women's division.

As for Balor, he became the very first Universal Champion after defeating Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2016, but a shoulder injury sidelined him for eight months, and he's yet to enter the main event picture since returning last April. Balor reportedly isn't "over enough," to Vince McMahon, and had a Royal Rumble match against Brock Lesnar scrapped by the creative team.

The Mixed Match Challenge will feature 12 episodes and begins on Jan. 16, 2017. It can be streamed via Facebook Live. As said above, four teams have been confirmed, and the rest should be announced in the coming days. Other stars that will compete (but haven't been partnered up yet), include Bayley, Asuka, Kurt Angle, Nia Jax, Becky Lynch, Carmella and Shinsuke Nakamura.

Give the creative team credit for coming up with some unique pairings thus far. How will Balor and Banks fare? Who knows, but we'll see if they can help The Demon King get "over" for once.
