Finn Balor reckons he's the reason NXT was ever popular and claims fans dropped the show after he left for WWE's main roster.

Balor recently returned to the developmental brand and has since undergone a shocking heel turn, the first of his WWE career. Heel Finn is walking the walk and talking the talk, having attacked Johnny Gargano in a surprising turn of events last week. And he's keeping things hot with as many barbs as he can come up with.

The wrestler sat down for an interview with TV Insider this week, declaring he's the reason fans have been tuning in to watch NXT nowadays.

“I’m not part of this brand. I am the brand,” he said. “When Finn’s gone, nobody is watching. When Finn’s there, everybody is watching. We talk about Johnny Gargano, the heart of NXT. He is this NXT darling. He was champion for 57 days. Finn Balor was champion for 292 days, so if the heart of NXT was a 57-day champ, there are some big issues.”

Finn added that he was boxed in while on the main roster but is now keen on doing what he likes to do, with the shackles now off.

“The shackles are completely off,” he explained. “I’m going to go back to what I like to do, which is just being myself and going out there no holds barred and have a little fun.”

Balor did not give a straight response when asked about the possibility of The Demon returning to WWE but told fans that they're about to see a very new side of him.

“I feel like I was losing sight of who I was as a person in the environment I was in,” he added. “I got to step away, and it really helped me refocus, reevaluate who I was as a person. Kind of go back to the real me."

We Imagine Most People Didn't Stop Watching, Though

Finn's return to NXT should work out well for both parties. It's reported that he wanted to head back there and pushed for the change, but what we didn't expect was an exciting heel turn.

Of course, his claim is a bit of a stretch. But his presence is definitely having a positive impact.
