In one of the most shocking moments since NXT moved to USA Network, it seems as though Undisputed Era has a new ally, if not the potential for a new member.

It wasn't long ago Finn Balor made a shocking return to NXT when the world was awaiting his return to either Raw or SmackDown Live. At the time he popped back up for the black and gold brand, Balor said, "as of now, I'm NXT." That much is still true after Wednesday's broadcast, but it appears he's chosen a faction to line up alongside, or if he's flying solo, he'll be doing so as a heel.

Coming down to the ring to seemingly help Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano from an outnumbered attacked at the hands of Undisputed Era, Balor delivered a massive swerve and kick to an unsuspecting Gargano while Undisputed Era took care of Ciampa and Balor pointed at them to do so.

But, was this about getting to Gargano? Or, was this Balor joining the Undisputed Era officially? The show went off the air as the rest of the group held up their faction symbols but Balor didn't make it clear which way he was leaning.

In footage that didn't make the broadcast, WWE aired video of Gargano being taken out in an ambulance.

This Was A True Swerve of the Best Kind

Leading up to tonight's NXT broadcast, Balor had teased that "his future would be his past" which many believed meant a return of the Demon King persona. What few likely expected was a turn to the dark where Balor used to lead one of the most notorious factions in Japan and was known as Prince Devitt.

This isn't suggesting a return of The Club, or even that he could use the name of the faction he helped create, but that he's now a heel was a complete and total shock that took many fans, and wrestlers by surprise. AJ Styles tweeted after seeing the show, "Well, well, well." while good friend and former running buddy Karl Anderson tweeted, "What took you so long Prince?"

Next week's episode will be must watch as Balor is expected to explain his actions.
