First Team For Inter-Gender Tag Tournament Is MASSIVE Mix Match

WWE announced its first team of the Mixed Match Challenge tournament, which is set to begin in two weeks. The first duo will see Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss team up with The Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman.

The news disappointed Nia Jax, who tried recruiting Strowman to join up with her last month. Jax released a couple of statements on Twitter, sharing her disappointment in the announcement, while also hinting at who she wanted her partner to be.

For those of you who missed Monday Night Raw, a segment showed Jax about to leave the arena to visit Enzo Amore - who had been admitted to the hospital with an illness. Bliss tried forcing Jax to stay and help her out that night, but the latter refused and left with chicken soup.

Jax and Amore have begun flirting with each other both on social media and in storyline, but a flu forced the Certified G out of the challenge. Jax's partner remains to be seen.

As for Bliss and Strowman, the couple couldn't be any more different. Bliss stands at 5-foot-1, while Strowman is one of the biggest wrestlers on the roster at 6-foot-8, 385 pounds. The Raw Women's Champion is also a bonafide hell, whereas Strowman recently turned babyface. They do say opposites attract, though. We'll see how this unlikely tag team fares together.

The Mixed Match Challenge will pit a handful of male-female tag teams, competing for $100,000 that they will donate to charity. The 12-episode special begins on Jan. 16, 2017, and can be streamed via Facebook Watch. We can announce the rest of the tag teams to be announced very soon.

The participants in the challenge have already been announced. The list includes Kurt Angle (who's replacing an ill Amore), Shinsuke Nakamura, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn, Charlotte, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Carmella, and others. Fans also get to vote for one member of the New Day to compete, plus one of either Elias, Samoa Joe, or Jason Jordan.
