Professional wrestling isn't something that you can shake your head at anymore. Sure, some of the storylines can be viewed as being a little bit ridiculous, but the actual content and the physicality of it all is pretty insane.

Ironically, one of the biggest crossovers that we see into the business from the sports world comes from the NFL—and football in general. The Rock, Goldberg, Roman Reigns & Baron Corbin are just a few of the many names that come to mind, and we believe that's only the beginning for football players that are serious about really thriving in that transition.

10 Odell Beckham Jr.

Be it his crazy look, (which isn’t so crazy anymore but has been fun in the past), his personality, or his insane athleticism, there are plenty of reasons to believe that OBJ could do some seriously big things over in the WWE.

He may not be the most natural talker upon entering WWE, but we like the idea of him being a bit of a wild man. We aren’t so sure what style he’d have, but, given everything he’s proven that he can do, the sky is the limit.

9 Rob Gronkowski

He’s already appeared inside of a WWE ring back at WrestleMania 33, and it truly did feel like WWE was testing the waters for what could be somewhere down the road. Gronk has so much charisma that it’s almost not even fair to the rest of the National Football League, even though he has technically retired now.

He is a walking, talking success story and one of the best parts of that is the alignment dilemma. He can function as a really good heel or a really good face, and we’re confident he would be able to pull off both characters fairly well.

8 Cam Newton

Cam Newton talks the talk, and, for the most part, knows how to walk the walk. The guy is a controversial figure and there’s no way of trying to get around that, but the reason he’s so controversial is that he forced people to listen to him and watch him play.

It sounds really odd but we actually feel as if a trend is developing, and that trend is that most of these stars will play a sort of ‘unpredictable’ role that will keep us all guessing and keep us on the edge of our seats.

7 Marshawn Lynch

The man who loves Skittles is also one of the most physically intimidating individuals that the NFL has seen in a long time. The subtle nature of his gimmick, even though it is probably just his actual personality, allows him to entice the masses and really build up a fanbase for himself. We’ve already mentioned him once, but we really do believe that he would remind us of someone like Goldberg.

Perhaps he wouldn’t be quite as good, but you’ll never know until you try, and Lynch would likely give it his all.

6 Gardner Minshew

Minshew has burst onto the scene this season, and we’d suggest it’s fair to admit few people could’ve seen that coming. He’s a bit of a cult hero, and, with his career being in the developmental stage, nobody really knows how far he could go.

Having a unique look—which he definitely has—is always going to help, in addition to the fact that we really want him to team up with Eric Bugenhagen. Just think of the chaos those two could create with one another. It’s worth signing him for that alone.

5 Baker Mayfield

In our minds, there’s one of two ways that they could go with a guy like Baker: either you have him be a Chad Gable type of wrestler with insane strength, or you make him a whiny heel that relies on all of his friends to come through for him.

Both would work fairly well, and we think that Mayfield would take that ball and run with it. He certainly isn’t short on confidence, and, let’s face it, that’s one of the very first things you need in this game.

4 Tedy Bruschi

Everyone loved Tedy Bruschi back in the day, and it’s not hard to see why. The guy was the heart behind the New England Patriots’ dynasty in the early noughties, helping them to win three titles in four years, firmly establishing himself as a franchise legend in the process.

That smile would be enough to win the hearts of the masses, and, while it may sound like we’ve got a little bit of a crush on him, that’s because we do. He understands the entertainment side of the game.

3 Richard Sherman

If you’ve ever heard Richard Sherman speak, then you’ll probably understand why we’ve made this selection. There’s a whole lot to love about this guy on the field, but, off of it, he’s an incredibly smart individual who has a passion for knowledge unlike any other.

When you throw that into the world of professional wrestling, a star is born. He looks like a guy who would be really fluid in regard to his movements in the ring, too, which is an underrated quality to have. Sherman is a star, man.

2 Larry Fitzgerald

We can picture Larry Fitzgerald in some sort of hybrid John Cena/Kofi Kingston role. He’d have the insane athleticism of Kofi, but he’d also have all of the attributes necessary to carry the company as the main man like John.

Fitzgerald is one of the most beloved men in the history of the National Football League, and nobody can deny that. While it’s a shame he hasn’t quite been able to claim that ring he’s been going after for so long, we do believe he can win a world title if he puts his mind to it (in WWE, that is. Sorry, Cards fans).

1 Clay Matthews

When you’ve got hair like that it feels like something of a sin not to utilize it in a pro wrestling capacity.

During his days with the Green Bay Packers, the one and only Clay Matthews actually did appear on SmackDown in order to promote their Super Bowl triumph. Matthews may have came across as being a bit clunky and awkward, but with some work, he could accomplish some great things. Sure, he’s passionate about football, but we’ve got a feeling that he only has a year or two leftover there.
