The professional wrestling industry is a place which is built upon the trust of the wrestlers who depend on each other whenever they head into the ring together. Most of the wrestlers in WWE have always been quite friendly to each other because of how they need to have a good understanding to deliver the best matches possible. While most of the wrestlers these days are evidently quite friendly to each other in WWE, that hasn't always been the case.

Things have become heated on many occasions in the past, with a few wrestlers having legitimate scuffles and fights backstage due to some problems between them. While the WWE has done well to cool down their locker room and stop any backstage altercations to happen in the modern era, tempers were really flying before they turned "PG". While some of the backstage fights in WWE are quite well-known because of how much attention they got, there are some rather unknown backstage fights between wrestlers which aren't so widely known.

These altercations are some not many fans actually know took place in WWE, but some of these ended up being quite heated and violent and had to be dealt carefully by the officials, who had to make sure it didn't blow out of proportions. So let's have a look at 15 Backstage Altercations You Didn't Know Took Place In WWE.

Eddie Guerrero was a beloved figure among the WWE fans during his years at the company, where he achieved many great things and won many a championship. Guerrero might've been a beloved figure in the ring, but he was a bit of a problem backstage at times were often lashed out at opponents after not liking how they worked the matches. So when he was part of Los Guerreros, Eddie faced Charlie Haas in a match where Haas worked a bit stiff with him. Eddie complained about it backstage and tipped off Haas, who started scuffling with him backstage with some punches being thrown around. They were eventually broken up and made up later on, but this unknown backstage altercation is another example of how whiny Guerrero was sometimes backstage, which resulted in some heated fights with other wrestlers.

14 Ric Flair Vs The Nasty Boys

via wwe.com

Ric Flair was always a top star wherever he went to wrestle, but he wasn't greeted so well by the wrestlers of WWE when he joined the company in the early 90s. Sometime after joining, Ric was partying at a club in New York with a friend, when the Nasty Boys broke Flair's friend's sunglasses. When Flair approached Brian Knobbs, he was met with a rude gesture, so Flair got physical and supposedly "had it under control". But then Knobbs' partner, Jerry Sags, came flying in to nail Flair in the eye. The two started fighting each other until they were broken apart, after which Flair was kicked out of the club. Unfortunately, he had to pay 3,000$ in damages and to add insult to injury, the Nastys partied off his tab after having a scuffle with him!

13 Eve Torres Vs Matt Hardy

There aren't many times where you can find a female and male wrestler having backstage fights, but things got a little frisky between Matt Hardy and Eve Torres when the two were together in WWE many years ago. This comes from a time when both Eve and Hardy were at a bar after a WWE event and after having a drink too many, Hardy started to get a bit physical with Eve. He tried to use wrestling moves on her and while Eve tolerated him for a while, she got fed up after a point of time and put him in a legitimate choke-hold, making him pass-out from it. This was not really that heated and happened when both were drunk at a bar, but Eve gained quite a lot of popularity through that move and has been teaching the choke-hold to students in her self-defense classes.

12 Rick Rude Vs The Ultimate Warrior

via kbwrestlingreviews.com

"Ravishing" Rick Rude and The Ultimate Warrior were two top stars of WWE when they had a program together in 1989/1990 in WWE and had to face off against each other in various matches at live shows and other events. So apparently Warrior(who didn't really have much prior wrestling experience before joining WWE) was working really stiff with Rude in the matches, prompting him to approach Warrior and tell him to lighten up a bit. Apparently, Warrior ignored that and shouted on his face "I Don't Have to because I'm the Warrior" after which Rude knocked him out with one punch to the face. But Ric Flair had a different view to it, stating that Rude went into the locker room and beat him up pretty bad. Regardless of which one it is, it seems Rude definitely put Warrior in his place after this confrontation.

11 The Rock Vs Ahmed Johnson

The Rock might be the "most electrifying man in all of sports entertainment", but he wasn't so charismatic when he initially joined the WWE and had some problems blending in. He had to work hard to get to the top, but had some arrogance in his initial years. The Rock also had some backstage heat with Ahmed Johnson, who was a solid mid-carder for WWE back then. Apparently, they had a heated confrontation one day when Johnson approached the Rock, who was trying to downplay his father and say he was a "white man". When Johnson confronted him about it, The Rock flipped him off after which they came to blow and had a scuffle. The two were separated eventually, but this random backstage altercation was one where The Rock got put in his place for showing off his arrogance by the more experienced Johnson.

Rene Dupree might be remembered as the youngest Champion in WWE history when he was doing amazingly well at WWE at a very young age as part of the "La Resistance" tag team. Dupree was the travel partner to Hardcore Holly and Billy Gunn back then but made the grave mistake of crossing Holly when he violated some rules by driving a car in Holly's name. Holly had to go to court after receiving a violating ticket and decided to take out his anger on Dupree. So in a "hardcore rules" match between Holly & Charlie Haas against Dupree & Kenzo Suzuki, Holly started to shoot on Dupree, which included hitting him with reach punches and kicks. He even smacked him with a chair which made his eye get swollen and beat him backstage later on as well, with this ugly altercation proving how big of a bully Holly was.

9 Randy Orton Vs Rochelle

via pinterest.com / via wikipedia.org

Randy Orton may be one of the "veterans" in the WWE right now, but he was quite the arrogant guy in the company during his initial years and when he was still a younger, inexperienced wrestler. Orton may have gotten stardom early into his WWE career, but it only fueled his ego which was quite hurt when a WWE Diva Rochelle Loewen didn't know who he was. Orton would lash out at her with verbal abuses and bullied her. Apparently, in a terrible backstage altercation, Orton doused her bag with self-tanning lotion and baby oil. Many thought he put poop in it, but Rochelle cleared it out by saying it was lotion and baby oil and that it wouldn't be past him to s**t in her bag, with this ordeal proving how much of a bully Orton really was.

8 The Big Show Vs Chavo Guerrero

via wrestlingmedia.org

The Big Show may be this intimidating "giant" in the WWE, but to his credit, he is a very friendly giant who has bonded well with others in WWE over the years. Despite having the ability to crush anyone he likes, Show's a very friendly guy who doesn't cause much trouble backstage. But even the calm giant got riled up in 2004 when Chavo Guerrero decided to be foolish and try and smack-talk the Big Show. So after Show was talking about the difference between smaller and bigger wrestlers, Chavo decided to lash out at him and call Show "lazy" and "fat". Show ignored him at first, but when Chavo really got into his face, Show sent him flying into a group of wrestlers. Guerrero had to be held back by wrestlers to stop him from being stomped, with his proving you don't want to rile up the Big Show.

7 Yoshi Tatsu Vs Sheamus

via sportskeeda.com

Sheamus has always been an arrogant bully in the WWE, where his heel gimmick has taken him so far in all his years with the company. But before he was on the main roster, Sheamus did some training in FCW(Florida Championship Wrestling) and used to stay with Ted DiBiase and Yoshi Tatsu. Apparently back then, he used to borrow their protein shake/blender without asking them, which wasn't really a problem, but the fact that he didn't clean them up angered Tatsu and DiBiase. So they confronted him about it, after which Sheamus threw the shaker at Tatsu and challenged him to fight. Little did he know that Tatsu had prior training at the New Japan Dojo, as he apparently beat Sheamus up pretty bad. Once asked about the incident, Tatsu said that he wanted to teach Sheamus a lesson, and he proved himself to be bad-ass doing so.

6 Brutus Beefcake Vs Haku

via wwe.com / via pinterest.com

Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake attained quite a lot success in WWE due to being Hulk Hogan's best friend in the 80s, and he was treated quite well by WWE due to Hogan. But when Beefcake decided to complain about the menacing Haku, he was in for some trouble. So after a match against Haku, Beefcake complained to management about him slapping him too hard. This gained the attention of Haku who realized that Beefcake tried to snitch on him and went berserk. Haku found Beefcake in the shower and grabbed him by the neck, choking him out minutes later. Nobody even dared to stop this because of Haku's reputation, as it took for Hogan to come and calm things down. This definitely taught Beefcake a lesson about stop being a wuss in WWE, as he wouldn't dare to snitch on anyone after being whooped by the dangerous Haku.

5 Buff Bagwell Vs Shane Hurricane Helms

via pinterest.com

Buff Bagwell was quite popular in WCW because of his well-toned figure which made him a hit amongst the ladies, but once he was signed by WWE after they bought WCW, it all changed for him. He couldn't blend into WWE properly and often annoyed everyone with his poor attitude backstage, for which he was made to pay one day. He was hassling Shane Helms for how "small" he was, which provoked Helms to make a remark about Bagwell being on steroids. This riled up Bagwell, who smacked him in the head from behind. Helms then took a water bottle from nearby and swung it at Bagwell, splitting open his head and drawing blood. Helms apparently got a few blows after that, but Bagwell got the ramifications of constantly demeaning other wrestlers and it only got worse when he was released by WWE later on for this incident.

4 JBL Vs Steve Blackman

via wwe.com

JBL had the reputation of being a big bully in the WWE when he was an in-ring competitor, with his hazing becoming more and more awful as he gained power in WWE. JBL would haze wrestlers in the 90s as well, but when he tried to fool around with Steve Blackman, he got taught a harsh lesson. So during one day at an airport, JBL tried to mess around with Blackman and even when Blackman told him not to, he continued doing it. This resulted in Blackman jabbing him in the face, after which JBL tried to fight him. He missed with his punches, but Steve kept on punching him in the face. He almost broke his knees too but was stopped by a bag as other wrestlers separated them. JBL later apologized to Blackman in front of everyone and realized never to mess with someone like Blackman again.

3 MVP Vs Bill DeMott

via wwe.com / via onlineworldofwrestling.com

MVP may be remembered by the fans as the "baller" who was a solid mid-carder for WWE a few years ago, where he helped elevate the United States Championship with his reigns. He was a really entertaining wrestler for a few years but before he could join the main roster, MVP was sent to WWE's developmental territory "Deep South Wrestling", where he was under Bill DeMott. Now everyone knows how much of a bully DeMott was in WWE and he even tried that with MVP in 2006. Apparently, DeMott talked down to MVP and treated him especially awfully one day, after which MVP decided to straighten him up. The next day, he went to DeMott's office and threatened to beat him if he ever talked to him in that disrespectful manner. Bill agreed to it and never talked down to him afterward, with MVP straightening him up.

2 Dynamite Kid Vs Jacques Rougeau

via sportskeeda.com / via thesun.co.uk

One of the less known intense real-life rivalries in WWE in the late 80s was that between the Rougeaus (Jacques and Raymond Rougeau) and the British Bulldogs (Dynamite Kid and The British Bulldog), with things getting so heated at one point that they used fought almost regularly backstage. During one event, Dynamite Kid beat up Jacques Rougeau after a misunderstanding created by Curt Hennig, who was known for his ribbing. But Rougeau would not back down and weeks later, he planned to enact revenge upon Kid. He had practiced his jabs and on one opportune moment when he found Kid alone, he hit him with such a smashing punch it knocked 4 teeth out of Kid! Jacques continued hitting him with jabs for a while until they were separated, but the backstage altercations between these two were almost always extremely violent and more "real" than anyone could imagine.

1 Shawn Michaels, X-Pac & Davey Boy Smith Vs Local Thugs

via godsofwrestlingnews.wordpress.com

Shawn Michaels was quite the disrespectful dude in the 90s when he attained a lot of popularity in WWE and developed quite the ego after doing so. He did some awful things to other wrestlers as part of The Kliq and was resented by fans and wrestlers alike for his attitude. He had been part of many backstage problems, but one which is unknown by some fans is when he got beat up at a bar in Syracuse, Canada. So Michaels was apparently flirting up with a girl at a bar who was the girlfriend of a military thug and he got jumped by the guy and some of his thugs outside of the bar. He got beat up pretty bad until X-Pac and Davey Boy Smith came to rescue him. A bruised Michaels appeared on RAW the next day, with the announcers acknowledging the beating which probably made Michaels hate Canadians even more.
