According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Joey Styles has been released by the WWE. There's no word yet on why Styles was released but his last tweet was on July 29th, just days after Styles participated in a shoot interview on a Facebook Q/A. Styles was pretty open during the chat. He mentioned he didn't like the name "Universal Championship" or the three man commentary booth. He also gave his thoughts on why Vince McMahon has pushed Roman Reigns so heavily.

“Bottom line is, if our chairman thinks he sees a future star as a babyface, that’s how things are gonna play out … But the answer is Vince thinks it can work. He’s been right much, much, much, much, much more than wrong over the course of the last 40 years. I’m sorry, but I’m not gonna second-guess the chairman.”

The video has since been pulled from WWE's Youtube and Facebook pages.

Styles was announcer for the company from 2005-2008 before taking a position for WWE.com. He was eventually promoted to Vice President of Digital Media Content. We'll have to see what the next step is for the legendary ECW announcer.
