Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan was fired from the WWE over two years ago after an audio tape of him using a racial slur was leaked. The WWE immediately released him from his legends contract and erased all Hogan merchandise and mentions from the company's official website.
Ever since his dismissal, there have been constant rumors and speculation about The Hulkster returning. Well, one former booker in WCW isn't buying it. Kevin Sullivan appeared on Hannibal TV to talk about the Hogan scandal, and he doesn't believe that a return is in the cards for Hulkamania.
That is due in large part to Linda McMahon being in the cabinet of Donald Trump, the current president of the United States.
“I think if there’s one tape out there, there may be another. But the main thing is, because Linda McMahon is in the cabinet, she’s the head of the Small Business Administration, I don’t think they need any more heat," Sullivan said. "All you need today is for one person to say it, take something out of context. And they’re very, very concerned about their public image now, and rightfully so.”
"Do I think he can be forgiven and make amends with the world and move forward? Yeah, absolutely...And we did what we needed to do, and he’ll do what he needs to do to get himself back."
There's no denying how much Hogan and Vince McMahon were responsible for the others success. Hogan was the face of wrestling in the '80s when Vince saw the WWF reach new heights of popularity around the world.
But the relationship between these two wrestling icons was toxic. Hogan did leave the WWE on four different circumstances. When he left to join WCW in the mid-90s, Hogan nearly put his old boss out of business.
At the end of the day, it's impossible to know if Hogan has one more Leg drop to deliver in the WWE. He was fired for a reason, but you can't count out a return, considering that Vince brought him back three times before.
