Ever since Sunny first stepped into WWE back in 1990s, there have been hundreds of women who have followed in her footsteps either because of the annual Diva Search or because they were models recruited by John Laurinaitis. The shelf life for the women of WWE isn't a long one which could be why there are so many former Divas Champions floating around the real world since they have been released from WWE. It's impossible for fans to keep track of all of the women who were once part of the company so there are many who have fallen through the cracks.

The women of WWE have only recently started to be taken seriously, which means that there are many women who were in the company before them that weren't given the same kinds of opportunities. The following list looks at just 15 women who were once part of the company but have now been able to move on to a life outside of the wrestling business. There have been many forgettable female wrestlers over the past few decades, but these are the women that the WWE Universe will remember for their contributions to the business, even though the Women's Revolution has changed the face of the division in recent years.

15 Jillian Hall

via twitter.com

Jillian Hall was introduced to the WWE Universe as a "fixer" and went on to work with both MNM and JBL before she was able to become a wrestler in her own right. Jillian is best remembered for her awful singing gimmick where the star was convinced that she was actually a talented musician when in fact she was terrible. She was part of a Divas Division that included Mickie James, Melina, and Kristal Marshall, which left the creative team with very little future plans for the star.

Incredibly, Jillian is one of the women who were able to lift the Divas Championship during her short WWE career. But she only managed to hold it for a few minutes before Melina defeated her and took it away, Hall wasn't even able to make it backstage. The following year, Hall was released from her WWE contract and then went on to make a number of appearances on the Independent Circuit before she announced her retirement in 2014. Over the past few years, Jillian has kept busy working for a law firm as well as for a Women's Advocate group but she still appears at independent wrestling shows and conventions whilst also raising her daughter.

14 Stacy Keibler

via hawtcelebs.com

Stacy Keibler was one of the female wrestlers who made her way over to WWE after the company purchased WCW back in 2001. Keibler was never seen as an in-ring performer for the company, but she worked well as a valet for the likes of The Dudley Boyz and The Hurricane. Her long legs were one of the reasons why she became so popular but like many women in WWE, she used her wrestling career as a stepping stone into showbiz. Keibler competed on Dancing With The Stars back in 2006 and took the opportunity to part ways with WWE so that she could pursue other ventures.

Keibler attempted to move into a career as an actress, but she wasn't as successful as she believed she could be.

Keibler briefly returned to the public eye when she was in a relationship with Hollywood legend George Clooney, but this ended in 2013 and Keibler then married her longtime friend Jared Pobre. The couple has a daughter called Ava together but it was recently revealed by The Daily Mail that the former Diva was spotted flaunting another baby bump whilst out shopping in LA, which means that she is expecting her second child.

13 Victoria

via instagram.com

Victoria is a former WWE Women's Champion and someone who was overlooked throughout the era that included Trish Stratus and Lita. Victoria always seemed as though she was out of place in WWE's Divas Division, but she was able to prove that she had what it takes to be the best when she moved over to Impact Wrestling and became known as Tara. Victoria was ahead of her time when she was in the ring for WWE and even though she wanted to be taken seriously for her in-ring ability, the company wasn't ready for their women to take center stage at that time.

Victoria lifted TNA Knockout's Championship five times throughout her time with the Impact Wrestling before she decided to leave the company back in 2013. Victoria has recently been part of a number of Independent shows and even faced Candice Michelle in her final wrestling match at House of Hardcore back in December. Victoria has tried a number of business ventures over the past few years, but it appears that right now she is appearing at more expo events and has been spotted at The Kids Choice Awards and at Long Beach Comic Expo in recent months.

12 Melina

via twitter.com

Melina was one of the women who was left to carry the mantle for the Women's Division when Trish Stratus and Lita retired from WWE back in 2006. Melina and Mickie James did a great job of pushing the Women's Division forward, but Melina's backstage attitude caused real problems for her and made her a lot of enemies ahead of her release back in 2011. Melina is reported to have been the only female in WWE history who was kicked out of the WWE locker room because of her attitude when it came to the other women in the company at that time.

Melina has since returned to the Independent Circuit and has been working for a number of promotions all over America and Europe over the past seven years. Melina split with her longtime boyfriend Johnny Nitro back in 2015 and has since remained single, but the star has been able to add Comic-Con appearances to her list of duties in recent years. Melina is now seen as a big enough name to be seen at some of the biggest conventions as well as still wrestling on a regular basis since it was announced by Sportskeeda that the former Women's Champion returned to the ring back in March in Australia.

11 Christy Hemme

via instagram.com

Christy Hemme was introduced to the WWE Universe as part of the 2004 WWE Diva Search and was given a huge push as part of her first year with the company, which included unsuccessfully challenging Trish Stratus for the Women's Championship at WrestleMania 21. Hemme was thought to have always had an issue with fellow star Victoria, who went on record to state that she was jealous of the money that Hemme earned in her rookie year with WWE.

Hemme was a gifted athlete and could have been a star in the Women's Division after some training.

That is why it came as a shock when she was released from the company in the fall of 2005. She used this as an opportunity to move over to Impact Wrestling and remained part of the company for more than a decade before she announced that she was retiring in 2016. Hemme announced last year that she was expecting quadruplets, she gave birth to Hemme Lee Patterson, Jagger James Patterson, Quinn Eugene Patterson, and Sunni Sue Patterson back in January and has since been sharing images of her newborns on Social Media as she has attempted to juggle life with her four children.

10 Tiffany

via instagram.com

Better known now as Taryn Terrell, the Impact Wrestling star actually started her career in WWE as the Assistant to ECW General Manager Theodore Long. Terrell had auditioned for the 2007 Diva Search but after making it to the final eight, she was eliminated fourth and was then signed to the company. After a few months in FCW, Taryn was introduced to the WWE Universe as Tiffany on the ECW roster. Tiffany married current WWE star Drew McIntyre back in 2010 but after an incident between the couple, she was suspended by WWE and was later released from the company before she had the chance to make a return.

Like many of the women in the wrestling business at that time, she moved on to work for Impact Wrestling following her release and filed for divorce from McIntyre. The star found much more success in Impact Wrestling but shockingly announced that she had decided to part ways with the company in the fall of 2017. Taryn has most recently been seen taking part in obstacle races and stunt performances. It appears that her Motorcycle stuntman husband has opened up a new passion for the former TNA Knockout and she's been able to move into this following her retirement from the wrestling business.

9 Layla

via wikia.com

Layla won the annual Diva Search back in 2006 and went on to become one of the more successful former Diva Search winners. Layla is a former Divas and Women's Champion which stems from her time as part of LayCool with Michelle McCool, but after finding success with each other, the duo opened a feud against each other which ended when Layla defeated Michelle in a Loser Leaves WWE match at Extreme Rules in 2011.

Layla was then part of a number of notable feuds on WWE TV, including one with Summer Rae when the two women fought over the right to be Fandango's dance partner. Layla opted to retire from WWE back in 2015, just before she married fellow WWE superstar Ricky Ortiz. Layla and her husband have since removed all of their social media accounts so that they can live a much more private life, and has landed a job as a realtor for a real estate company called Keller-Williams. Interestingly it appears that Layla made the choice to step out of the spotlight after almost a decade of working as a WWE Diva, but she has now been able to settle into a regular life as a realtor in Glendale, Arizona.

8 Candice Michelle

via ewrestling.com

Candice Michelle is another former Diva Search contestant, but she is one of the women on this list that definitely represents the way the women of WWE were once seen by the company. As a former Playboy cover girl, it's obvious that Candice's role in the Division at that time was to be the eye candy whilst the other women fought for the Championships. It was only after Candice decided to train hard and pushed to be taken seriously that she was able to land her first Women's Championship when she defeated Melina back in 2007. Michelle was released from WWE back in 2009, just a month after she was drafted over to the SmackDown roster.

Candice was never able to have a final match with the company because of the way she was released, so the former Women's Champion returned to the ring at House of Hardcore back in December to have her final match against her longtime friend and rival Victoria. Candice is now happily married with three children and has opted to spend her time raising her daughters alongside her chiropractor husband, which is why she wanted one final match before she stepped back into her life as a wife and mother.

7 Katie Lea Burchill

via facebook.com

Katie Lea Burchill is best remembered as the on-screen sister of fellow WWE star Paul Burchill in WWE. The duo worked closely together throughout their time together on-screen and even hinted that they were heading towards and incest angle before the company changed to a PG brand and the storyline was scrapped. Burchill joined the WWE back in 2008 which was considered to be the beginning of one of the worst spells in the company's history for the women so Burchill had her work cut out from day one. Katie was another talented performer that the WWE had no idea what to do with in their Divas Division at that time and was then released from the company back in 2010.

She went on to become known as Winter in Impact Wrestling.

Katie is a former two-time Knockout's Champion, something that she managed to achieve in the two years that she was part of the company. The star has also recently stepped into the acting business and been part of a number of projects, but also returned to Impact Wrestling two weeks ago for the first time in six years as part of the newly rebranded show with the new name Katarina where it appears that the former Champion will now be seen as Grado's girlfriend.

6 Rosa Mendes

via instagram.com

Rosa Mendes auditioned for the annual Diva Search back in 2006 and even though like many other women who were part of the annual competition, she didn't win, she was still signed to the company. Mendes became better known as a manager than as a wrestler throughout her career but was able to wrestle a handful of televised matches in the seven years she was with the company. Mendes was used as a jobber throughout her career and has one of the worst win/loss records in the history of WWE.

Mendes should have been released years before she actually was, but it was believed that her role on Total Divas helped her to remain with the company as long as she did. The former star revealed that she was expecting her first child in the summer of 2015 and even though she couldn't wrestle, the company allowed her to remain contracted. Jordan was born in February 2016 and on her first Birthday, Rosa announced that she had decided to retire from the wrestling business. After a year away from the business, Rosa announced earlier this year that she has decided to make her return and is expected to make a number of appearances on the Independent Circuit in the coming months.

5 Kristal Marshall

via instagram.com

Kristal Marshall finished fourth in the 2005 Diva Search that was eventually won by Ashley, but the company decided to sign her to a contract and used Kristal and Jillian to start a Women's Division on SmackDown. One of Marshall's most memorable storylines was when she was aligned with SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long and the couple were scheduled to marry until Long suffered a heart attack partway through the ceremony and Marshall was then released from her contract. Kristal was never given a real chance in the Women's Division, but she was seen just another disposable female wrestler at that time since WWE had so many to choose from because of the annual Diva Search.

The former WWE Diva was part of a three-year relationship with current WWE star Bobby Lashley, the duo has two children together and even worked together in TNA for a few months when Kristal was known as Kristal Lashley. Kristal stepped out of the wrestling business after her career in TNA and has since focused on raising her son and daughter. Kristal is now an IFBB pro, an artist, and domestic engineer and somehow she manages to juggle all of this with being a mother to her two young children.

4 Jackie Gayda

Jackie Gayda was brought into WWE though Tough Enough back in 2002 when she was awarded the contract when she won season two of the show. After a more than a year in OVW, Gayda moved on to make her main roster debut in 2004 when she was aligned with Stacy Keibler. Whilst Jackie was part of WWE she worked with her future husband Charlie Haas, but both she and Haas were shockingly released from the company back in 2005 along with a number of other talents.

The couple went on to work together on the Independent Circuit and as part of TNA, before Jackie gave birth to the couple's first child in December 2006. Jackie and Charlie now have four children together and it's reported that the couple opened their own "Custom Muscle Nutrition and Smoothie Shop" back in 2008. Gayda has since left the spotlight and the wrestling business behind in recent years and is now reportedly focused on raising her children alongside her husband. Charlie Haas is only semi-retired from the wrestling business, whilst Gayda herself is only said to be semi-retired as well and could still be open to a return to the wrestling world in the future.

3 Shelly Martinez

via instagram.com

Shelly Martinez was perhaps better known as Ariel throughout her time in WWE, she was the vampiress valet of Kevin Thorn and one of the strangest characters in ECW at that time. Ariel was able to be part of The New Breed's match against The ECW Originals back at WrestleMania 23 but after just a year with the company, she was released from her contract, something that she blamed on a confrontation that she had with Batista.

Over the past decade, Martinez has been working on the Independent Circuit and even had a stint in TNA.

Back in 2011, Martinez was made the official Hollywood event correspondent and hostess for MoreHorror.com and has also been part of a number of adult entertainment movies. Shelly announced back in December that she was looking to retire from the wrestling business this year. Right now she is still appearing as part of the Independent Circuit, but she is hoping to retire from this career before the end of the year, but she didn't state what career she was hoping to move into afterward. Shelly started out as a model before she became a professional wrestler, so this could be a career she is looking to return to.

2 Serena Deeb

via wwe.com

Serena Deeb was the only female member of The Straight Edge Society that was led by CM Punk back in 2010. The former Independent star was used as a plant in the audience and jumped the barrier to join the team after she agreed to have her head shaved. Serena was only part of one televised match in her WWE career when she was able to pin Kelly Kelly in a mixed tag match.

After more than seven years away from the company, Serena returned to WWE with a head full of hair as a competitor in the Mae Young Classic. She defeated Vanessa Borne in the first round of the competition before being eliminated herself in the next round. Back in February, it was reported that Deeb had been signed by WWE to become a coach at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Deeb has been wrestling for the past 15 years and will be a fantastic addition to the Performance Centre alongside Sara Del Ray who has had her hand in training some of the best female wrestlers on the WWE roster right now. Hiring someone like Deeb is a hint that WWE is looking to continue creating a high level of female wrestlers in the future.

1 Tori

via facebook.com

One of the most forgettable female wrestlers in the history of WWE is Tori. The former WWE Diva made her in-ring debut at WrestleMania XV when she challenged Sable for the Women's Championship in a losing effort. Other highlights from her career include being the girlfriend of Kane and joining D-Generation X, she was also one of the stars who helped Stephanie McMahon to lift her first and only Women's Championship. As a former bodybuilder and fitness model, Tori was the right fit for what WWE needed at that time, but the company had no idea how to use her.

Tori retired from the business back in 2001 to concentrate on training as a Yogini and has since been able to open her own Yoga Studio in Portland. Tori isn't the only female wrestler who has gone on to open their own Yoga studio since WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus did the same thing when she left the company back in 2006. Tori wasn't taken seriously when she part of the wrestling company, which is why she took it upon herself to leave the company and start training in something new. Tori is now a successful Yogini and her Yoga Studio is going from strength to strength.
