Former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard of the controversial tag team Cryme Tyme, took down an armed robber Sunday night at a Florida convenience store. TMZ Sports reported that Coral Springs PD responded to a call around midnight Sunday night for an attempted armed robbery.

According to police, the suspect walked up to Gaspard and said, "Hey man, buy me a beer." Shad then said, "There's a better way to ask than that" ... and police said that's when the suspect pulled out his firearm.

The store clerk then said Gaspard quickly shoved the suspect against the cooler door and knocked the gun out of his hand. Shad said he was trying to remove the gun's magazine when he saw an air canister compartment. It turns out it was just a BB gun.

Gaspard took the suspect to the ground and held him there until police arrived.

“I thought it was a real gun the entire time and honestly, I just didn’t want anyone to get hurt,” said Gaspard.“I just kept thinking about how I wanted to make sure I got home to my son.”

The suspect has been booked on attempted robbery with a weapon.

Considering Shad Gaspard's gimmick in WWE was an offensive racial stereotype as part of Cryme Tyme, this is an awesome story to hear about the real person.
