When it comes to professional wrestlers, it is truly tough to predict how they will age. We have seen many Superstars who were once considered sex icons and praised for their look turn into a shell of themselves. Nobody can escape Father Time so it's no surprise that our favorite wrestlers appear to be older these days, but some were affected more than others. And that comes down to several factors from genetics to lifestyle, the latter which probably is the most important in the life of a wrestler.

Not only are they putting their bodies on the line in the ring by performing high risk moves, but it is a very demanding business that requires them to be on the road the entire year. And we have seen so many wrestlers fall apart due to that lifestyle with some relying on painkillers and alcohol to get by - a decision that has affected them in the long run in more ways than one.

And while so many of the older wrestlers are unrecognizable these days, there are still many who manage to defy the time by remaining in top shape. They have put in the hard work to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and as a result, their overall appearance is very impressive to say the least. Some of them look to be ready to get inside the ring at any given moment. Today, we look at 10 90s WWE stars who look way different today and 10 who look even better:

20 Different: Lex Luger

via therichest.com

Appearance is crucial in professional wrestling and everyone is well aware of that by now. It is the very reason why Vince McMahon selected Lex Luger as his next top babyface since he had the ideal look of a WWE Superstar. Luger did get over with the fans but not quite as much as the WWE had hoped. He offered very little inside the ring and on the mic, but he always did have an impressive physique to compensate for it.

Unfortunately for Luger, he has been ill for a number of years, and looking unrecognizable in most recent photos. Long gone are the days when he impressed audiences around the world with his physique. He has been spotted at random events in the past few years, and he has shown signs of improvement, so we hope his recovery continues to go well.

19 Even Better: Ken Shamrock

via mmaspace.net

It's unrealistic to expect Ken Shamrock to have retained the same look that he had in his younger days, but he has worked hard to attain that feat. You can clearly see some visible ageing signs on his face, but Shamrock has stayed in top shape to distract us from that fact. Despite having been away from the WWE since 1999, Shamrock has remained active on the MMA scene even as he got into an advanced age. And with Shamrock's constant training, the results are showing off for everyone to see.

He would certainly look even better without different facial hair, as his current look isn't exactly suitable at all. At 54 years old, Shamrock is looking as fine as he probably had hope and certainly much better than many of his peers. In fact, he is in better shape right now than plenty of current WWE Superstars.

18 Different: Val Venis

via sportskeeda.com

Considering the gimmick he portrayed, Val Venis had no choice but to be in top shape during his prime years. The gimmick didn't age too well even when he was still with the WWE, and it was clear for everyone to see although he wasn't out of shape by any means. These days, Val Venis is no longer appealing to the ladies, shifting his focus towards an entirely different demographic. As he has faded away from the wrestling world, Val Venis has kept himself busy with his outside ventures as evident by his interviews and social media accounts.

He has become a huge advocate for legalizing cannabis, spending much of his time promoting it. In fact, he is probably the only other wrestler who could match RVD's passion towards the topic. And considering all the weight he has put on, it appears that the munchies have had white the effect on his appearance.

17 Looks Even Better: Al Snow

via instagram.com

In his prime years, Al Snow wasn't in the greatest ring shape and only looked decent throughout the years. That may have been one of the factors that held him back as he certainly could have looked better. Some fans would have expected him to have aged badly based on his past appearance, but the opposite turned out to be true. Al Snow has turned it up a notch with his workouts, as he has gotten into the best shape of his life.

And he is taking great pride in his new appearance, as he loves showing off the newly improved muscles. We can't blame him either since most of his peers couldn't keep up with him anymore, but Al Snow is impressing everyone with his current results. And he should also serve as a motivational for all former wrestlers to stay in top shape at an advanced age.

16 Different: Sable

via twitter.com

From the late 90s to the mid 2000s, Sable had a strong case for being the original WWE Diva. She certainly had the segments to back up that claim, as she became the most popular female wrestler during the Monday Night War along with Chyna. And while Sable's appeal drove her to cover top magazines but it didn't last as long as she would have preferred.

She has been away from the spotlight since marrying Brock Lesnar, and that is probably for the better since she wouldn't have much to offer to WWE today. Sable's appearances have gotten fewer over the years with her most public cameos occurring during Lesnar's UFC fights and just being by his side for the occasional public appearance. And it seems obvious Sable isn't craving the attention she had during the Attitude Era.

15 Looks Even Better: The Rock

via gq.com

Most fans probably thought that The Rock had peaked during his WWE days where he managed to become one of the most popular Superstars of all time. In his younger years, he was driven by his unique charisma and great look that made him a stand out among the rest of his peers. These days, he is one of the biggest Hollywood stars, which is why The Rock has worked even harder than ever to get in the absolute top shape that he is in.

With The Rock reaching huge mainstream success, he has become one of the biggest fitness icons in the world. And while some wrestling fans may prefer The Rock during the Attitude Era, there is no doubt that the majority would prefer him in his current state. The Rock practically achieved the impossible by improving on what was already an outstanding look.

14 Different: Gangrel

For some gimmicks, it's much more important to have the right look rather than a great one. And such is the case of Gangrel who thrived for a brief period during the Attitude Era. He had a great theme song to go along with his unique look, but Gangrel never fully reached his potential as most had expected much more from him. And while his WWE run ended up in disappointment, Gangrel remained active on the independent scene. But these days, he isn't looking so much like his older self.

Gangrel still wrestles the occasional match on the independent scene, but with other priorities in his life, he's not as dedicated to being in ring shape as he was in his peak. Most fans would find it difficult to recognize him these days if they didn't happen to be huge fans of Gangrel.

13 Looks Even Better: Sycho Sid

via youtube.com

Sycho Sid had an impressive run in the 90s that is often forgotten these days. WWE rarely mentions him after having a fallout and his appearances have been very few, but Sid certainly had a more important role than what he is credited. Most would believe that Sycho Sid may not have put in the necessary work at the gym following his career ending injury in WCW, but the photo above begs to differ.

He has always had an impressive appearance - possibly the very reason as to why he was pushed to the top by Vince McMahon - and after all these years, he has retained most of his muscles. His shoulders may not be as wide anymore but he is certainly in an outstanding shape. And his face looks pretty much the same as it did in the 90s, which is a remarkable feat considering how different some Superstars have aged.

12 Different: Ahmed Johnson

via pwmania.com

How many fans would be able to recognize Ahmed Johnson in person in 2018? Not as many as he would like. Not only has he been away from the WWE for so long, but he looks different than his younger days. He is no longer as intimidating as he once was, and while he was bulky in his younger years, he still had the muscles to make it work back then. But Johnson's wrestling days are far behind him.

It seems like his current relationship with the WWE is very sour as he was apart of the group of wrestlers who sued the company in 2016. Many of Johnson's peers look like they could still go inside the squared circle, but he obviously has turned his attention to other things than getting back in the ring, such as furthering his degree in criminology.

11 Looks Even Better: Christian

via wwe.com

Coming towards the late 90s, Christian came from the Attitude Era although he would achieve most of his success in the 2000s. And while he didn't look bad by any means, Christian was just in decent shape at the time and looked far from a potential main eventer. It would take him a few years to improve his look and find an identity on the roster. Christian may not have fully reached his potential, but showed plenty moments of brilliance when booking happened to be in his favor.

These days, Christian is no longer competing in the ring but remains relevant due to his popular podcast with his long time partner Edge. And it seems like times have been kind to Christian thus far as he has looked sharper than ever, especially with his most recent haircut along with the beard to earn him a place on this side of the list.

10 Different: X-Pac

via pinterest.com

Based on what we know about X-Pac, we would have expected his looks to change over the years. X-Pac has been wrestling for decades, remaining active on the scene even years after most of his peers had retired. Additionally, he had faced plenty of personal problems that nearly got the best of him, but X-Pac has cleaned up in recent years.

But sadly, it is impossible to reverse age as you get older, and since X-Pac neglected that aspect for so many years, he isn't recognizable from his peak years. It seems like all members of The Kliq haven't aged gracefully, which may be related to the lifestyle they once had during their prime years. And for someone like X-Pac whose history is well-documented at this point, it is not shocking to hear that his appearance has significantly changed over the years.

9 Looks Even Better: Ivory

via dailywrestlingnews.com

Ivory had been away for a while prior to WWE's announcement regarding her induction into the 2018 Hall of Fame. Plenty of fans hadn't seen her in a while and the ceremony will help in re-introducing Ivory to the WWE Universe. Based on the photos that we have seen of her, she still looks good for her age. She did wrestle at a time when WWE was hiring the hottest models out there so she may not have stood up for her looks at the time, but most fans would agree that she has aged just fine.

And some may even go as far to claim that Ivory looks better than ever - certainly in good enough shape to have been apart of the first ever Women's Royal Rumble. But with her induction into the HOF, you can expect to see more of Ivory in the future.

8 Different: Bret Hart

via wwe.com

Bret Hart always looked like someone who would age well, but much like so many stars from his era, Father Time is a hard person to avoid. Hart has been under a lot of stress in his post-wrestling career and he's had to have multiple surgeries done, including a knee replacement and even underwent a wrist surgery recently.

And you can see what the years have done to Bret's physical appearance although the hair remains on point. But it is no longer the wavy black hair that fans once knew, as Hart has turned grey with his hair getting frizzy. While he doesn't look bad, Hart doesn't have the look of a WWE Superstar these days. And it was evident when he chose to wore jorts for his long awaited WWE return in 2010.

7 Looks Even Better: Billy Gunn

via therichest.com

Billy Gunn has been around longer than most people realize, staying active on the wrestling scene even at an advanced age. As such, he has always had to train hard to stay in top shape. For many years, he had problems with WWE and was away from the company's payroll so Billy Gunn had to work even harder to find bookings elsewhere. He remained committed to his workout even when he stepped away from the squared circle.

Some wrestlers let themselves go as soon as they get older, but Gunn has probably realized the long term effects of being healthy and exercising. Not to mention, he wouldn't want to fall on the wrong side of these lists as so many professional wrestlers stop caring at a certain point. As of now, Gunn can certainly pass for a WWE Superstar while even looking better than some.

6 Different: Scott Hall

via youtube.com

When Scott Hall broke into the wrestling industry with his Razor Ramon persona, he had it all. He was among the most talented big men in the ring, and had charisma oozing from out of his ears. But what Hall also had that set him apart from other wrestlers is a unique look. He was considered among the best looking wrestlers, and Hall certainly acted like it in his promos. But years of battling personal demons have led to major differences in Hall's appearance.

And for some quite time, Hall had gotten completely out of shape which was sad for his fans to see. In recent years, Hall has cleaned up his act thanks to the help of DDP and support of many of his friends. He has managed to get into an impressive shape for his age, but he still doesn't quite look like the Razor Ramon many remember seeing.

5 Looks Even Better: Scotty 2 Hotty

Scotty 2 Hotty's WWE ceiling was always going to be limited due to his gimmick and look. The latter was part of his character as a member of Too Cool, and it helped him get over with the fans. He remained in decent ring shape throughout his career, and it seems like he hasn't given up training since his WWE departure.

Scotty still looks good enough to be competing in 205 Live, and performing The Worm in front of audiences just as he once did. Some wrestlers' appearance drastically change once they get older, but Scotty is among those defying father time by looking like his old self. It is an impressive feat since he has been away from wrestling for a while, and as we have seen in this article, so many of his peers have gotten out of shape by now.

4 Different: Sunny

via tmz.com

If you had shown fans in the 90s a recent photo of Sunny, they probably wouldn't have believed you. It is easy to see why when you compare the drastic change in her appearance, going from being arguably the original WWE Diva to looking like an entirely different person. Despite failing to retain her 90s with age, Sunny still has fans to this day - some of whom are willing to pay her money for a Skype session.

It probably has to do more with her old glorious days rather than the current version of Sunny that we have come to know. After reaching the top of the mountain for several years in the 90s, Sunny had one of the worst declines out of all Superstars.

3 Looks Even Better: Mick Foley

via ibtimes.co.uk

Mick Foley was one of the biggest stars of the Attitude Era for a reason as his different personas succeeded in the WWE - all of which had a unique look. And for many of them, he had to adapt a not so clean appearance. But in recent times, Foley decided to move on from his past image and adapt a different one by parting ways with his long messy hair. He also cleaned up his facial hair which went along well with the short hair.

Foley's new look is definitely suitable for him, especially now that he is no longer an active wrestler. One could even argue that Foley looks younger in 2018 than he did during the Attitude Era. He is still in similar physical shape, which was never that impressive to begin with. And while plenty of his peers are balding by now, Foley's hair is still on point.

2 Different: Shawn Michaels

via wwe.com

Depending on when you started following the WWE, you may have a different point of view of Shawn Michaels. Newer fans may not get his appeal or even truly understand what he was like in his prime. Fans of Ruthless Aggression will view him as an all-time great, and older fans will have mixed feelings based on his run in the 90s. And while Michaels was among the best looking Superstars, age hasn't been so kind to him.

He isn't breaking nearly as many hearts these days. He's still in phenomenal physical shape, but there are certain things that age just trumps. Michaels elected to go with a different look recently, electing to cut off his iconic locks. At 52 years old, it's only normal that Michaels doesn't look quite like his younger self, but most of us probably thought that he would remain the same heartbreaker for the rest of his life.

1 Looks Even Better: Chris Jericho

via wwe.com

Chris Jericho established himself as an all-time great following his latest run in the WWE. And most fans have been praising Jericho for his longevity since he has been around for decades, maintaining relevance better than most wrestlers. And while we can all agree that his work on the mic has been astounding, one fact that always gets overlooked is that Jericho aged as fine as it gets.

He had the look of a star since his very first day in WWE, and as great as he was early on, Jericho continued to improve in so many aspects - making him a great all-around entertainer. Jericho continued to reinvent himself with various looks, most of which have been successful. And while he did have an occasional flop, Jericho always manages to bounce back by coming back looking better than ever inside the ring as well as his all-around appearance.
