It's been a few weeks since the loss of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper but fans can still look forward to one of his final projects. Global Force Wrestling has just announced a plan to promote "The Masked Saint," one of Piper's final movies. Inspired by true events, the movie tells of a former pro wrestler who retires to become a pastor and then turns into a masked vigilante to defend his town. Piper plays Nicky Stone, a promoter in the film.
Piper was scheduled to make an appearance at GWF's tapings at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas in August and thus the movie will have its premiere in the city on August 21st.
We are honored to be working with the filmmakers of THE MASKED SAINT,” said Jeff Jarrett, GFW founder and CEO. “Wrestling fans around the nation will enjoy this movie not only for its action-packed content, but also for the ‘fighting for justice’ message it portrays. We can’t wait to introduce them to this great movie. Roddy was scheduled to join us for the August show at the Orleans. In fact, I had spoken with him the day before he passed. He was a great friend and a great entertainer, and I was deeply saddened by the shocking news.”
While it may be more promotion for GWF, it's still nice to know one of Piper's final films is getting a good push for his fans and the business he loved.
