If Goldust wants a worthwhile tag team partner for the Mixed Match Challenge then he may want to reign his personality in a little.
Last week, WWE announced that in January they will air a show exclusively on Facebook Watch, Mixed Match Challenge. The series will run for 12 weeks and will feature Superstars from both Raw and SmackDown Live. The episodes will be 20 minutes each and revolve around a mixed tag team tournament where men and women team up to take on other male and female pairings.
While the teams haven't been announced yet, the majority of the competitors have. There will be 24 Superstars in the tournament and in order to begin the anticipation to the series WWE has been posting videos of certain performers trying to figure out who they might end up being paired with. Jimmy Uso has already angered his real-life wife Naomi by telling her he would rather be paired with someone else and it feels as if the whole world is rooting for Bayley and Finn Balor to be paired together.
The latest Superstars that encountered one another in their quest to be paired up for the MMC are Goldust and Asuka. The Bizarre One met The Empress Of Tomorrow backstage recently, and suffice to say things didn't exactly go swimmingly. Goldust wound up performing his signature puff of air to the face taunt to Asuka. In turn, the undefeated Japanese star snapped at Goldie which sent him scampering away.
The way WWE winds up pairing the Superstars competing in the MMC will be very interesting. The likes of Nia Jax and Enzo Amore seem destined to be teamed together but aside from that it really is anyone's guess who will end up with who. If Goldust and Asuka do end up together then they may be a dark horse team that goes on to win the whole thing.
The start of the groundbreaking tournament is less than a month away now, so expect the build to it to start gaining momentum extremely soon. WWE will want this venture to be a huge success so a lot of TV time will likely be dedicated to it and whoever is putting it together will want to choose the way they team up the competitors very carefully.
