While there were a lot of notable feuds that made the Attitude Era in WWE great, there was one that carried it to the top and made it must-see wrestling every week. That was the feud between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mr. McMahon. It was a feud that everyone loved to see, the everyman wrestler who took no gruff battling the evil boss who wanted to hold him down.

Mr. McMahon was, at one time, just a commentator onscreen and worked his magic behind-the-scenes in creative. However, once the Montreal Screwjob took place and McMahon stepped to the forefront as the owner of WWE, fans turned on him. Stone Cold was the perfect person to put him over as a top heel, and here are the 10 greatest moments from the Stone Cold/Vince McMahon feud, ranked.

10 10. MIKE TYSON

One of the most iconic moments in the feud between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mr. McMahon came when Austin got into the face of Iron Mike Tyson, a guest invited by McMahon to WWE. Not only did Austin get in Tyson's face, but he gave him the two-finger salute.

This was all because Austin did not appreciate McMahon calling Tyson the "baddest man on the planet," and Austin made sure they knew who he was. McMahon did not want Austin as champion and made Tyson the referee in the world title match with Shawn Michaels, only to see Tyson turn on DX and help Austin win his first world title.

9 9. 1999 ROYAL RUMBLE

Stone Cold Steve Austin had a few chances to settle things with Vince McMahon in wrestling matches. This included the 1999 Royal Rumble. Austin had earned his way into the match by beating Undertaker, but he had no idea that Mr. McMahon would also enter the Royal Rumble, and the two would be the 1-2 entrants.

This event had significance because it was the first time McMahon used the term "No way in Hell," and that has remained his theme ever since. It also doesn't help that McMahon ended up winning the Royal Rumble over Austin and then forfeited his title shot at WrestleMania. The funny thing is that by forfeiting, Austin was put back into line for the title shot.

8 8. "I WANT THE OLD STONE COLD"

WWE Steve Austin Invasion angle

There was a time where Stone Cold Steve Austin was not the antihero that bucked authority every chance he got. Instead, he turned heel and became a whining primadonna who sucked up to Vince McMahon and acted the fool with Kurt Angle. It was funny but embarrassing to see Austin no longer the tough guy he always was.

WWE bought out WCW, and The Invasion started. In one of the best promos of his career, McMahon begged to see the "old Stone Cold," even asking him to stun him so they could beat back the threat from WCW. Austin refused at first, but then came around. However, it was a ruse, as he joined the Alliance and turned on WWE and McMahon once again.

7 7. AUSTIN TURNS HEEL

While Stone Cold Steve Austin was out after undergoing neck surgery, Vince McMahon made his return to WWE after an extended absence of his own.  Austin ended up feuding with The Rock again, and this set up the two to fight for the second time at a WrestleMania event.

However, this time, the end was something that no WWE fan ever saw coming. At WrestleMania X-Seven, McMahon ran into the ring with a chair, but instead of helping The Rock, he handed the chair to Stone Cold, who bashed The Rock with it, won the WWE world title and shook hands with McMahon, turning heel and betraying the WWE Universe.

6 6. MCMAHON FORCED TO LEAVE WWE

During the time that Stone Cold Steve Austin was CEO of WWE, he also had a stipulated WWE world title match coming. He took the title match and won his fourth WWE world title from Undertaker on Monday Night Raw. The two ended up in a rematch that turned out to be a first blood match at Fully Loaded.

However, McMahon wanted Austin gone, so he convinced Stone Cold to add one more stipulation to the match. If Austin lost, he would never get another world title match again. If Austin won, McMahon would leave WWE. Austin won and then hit McMahon with one more stunner before firing him from WWE.

5 5. "IT WAS ME AUSTIN"

For a short time, Mr. McMahon turned babyface during the era where the Ministry of Darkness and Shane McMahon's Corporation teamed up to create the Corporate Ministry. They did heinous things, including sacrificing Stephanie McMahon to Undertaker and a mysterious Greater Power.

Well, it was all a swerve, and McMahon was the Greater Power as he manically laughed, "it was me, Austin." Things did not go well. Right after McMahon revealed himself, Linda McMahon and Stephanie McMahon came out. They revealed they each owned 25-percent of WWE, and then Linda announced she stepped down from her position and awarded it to Stone Cold Steve Austin, who was the new CEO of WWE.

4 4. THE GUN INCIDENT

Mr. McMahon fired Stone Cold Steve Austin when the Rattlesnake refused to play by his rules and did things his own way. However, this all came to a head when Austin attacked McMahon, kidnapped him, and ended up dragging him into the ring.

This is where Austin did one of the most controversial things to ever happen in a WWE ring. He pulled out a gun and threatened McMahon. He scared Mr. McMahon so bad that the owner of WWE peed his pants in the middle of the ring. It was just a prop gun, with a "Bang" flag popping out, and then Austin revealed Shane McMahon hired him back.

3 3. ST. VALENTINE'S DAY MASSACRE

After his 1999 Royal Rumble victory, Vince McMahon forfeited his WWE world title shot and said he just did it to eliminate Stone Cold from contention. However, current commissioner Shawn Michaels informed McMahon that when a winner forfeits, the runner-up gets the shot, and that was Stone Cold.

The way to solve this was for Stone Cold and Vince McMahon to wrestle in a steel cage at St. Valentine's Day Massacre, with the title shot on the line. Austin bloodied McMahon before Big Show attacked Austin in his WWE debut and then accidentally threw Austin through the cage wall to give Stone Cold the win.

2 2. "MY WAY"

The night after Stone Cold Steve Austin won his first world title from Shawn Michaels, Mr. McMahon showed up to present Austin with the newly designed WWE world title, signifying the start of a new era in WWE. He brought out Austin and gave him the title before saying he was happy to have him as a champion.

However, McMahon then said that the two of them needed to work together, and Austin needed to become a company man and adapt. He then said that they would do things "my way" or the "hard way." Austin's answer was a stunner.

1 1. THE FIRST ATTACK

The first stunner to start the feud between Mr. McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin took place on Sept. 22 on RAW. This was long before Austin won his first world title, and it all started when Austin was out with the neck injury he received at the hands of an Owen Hart piledriver.

Austin attacked Owen Hart, and the police came in to stop him. He attacked them, and the police wanted to arrest him. McMahon came into the ring and told Austin that he was not medically cleared to return and asked him not to throw his career away by attacking the police. Austin then hit the first stunner he ever hit on McMahon, and the seeds were planted for their future feud.
