Whilst some debuts fail to live up to the hype, and others start well and then end up fizzling out, throughout the years WWE has had some amazing debut moments that have gone down in wrestling history.

Within this article, we will be taking a look back at the 10 greatest debuts in WWE history, from iconic moments that will never be forgotten to some of the greatest crowd reactions in history.

10 AJ Styles

We are kicking off the list with a WWE debut that wrestling fans never thought they would see as the Phenenomal One, AJ Styles finally arrived in WWE after spending years as the face of TNA and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Whilst there had been rumblings ahead of the 2016 Royal Rumble that Styles might have signed with WWE, nobody could believe it until it officially happened, and the fact WWE threw him out in one of the biggest matches of the year was a huge surprise.

The reaction that Styles got from the WWE audience, despite having had no hype from the company showed just how big of a name AJ really was, and he then went on to have a great showing within the match.

9 Ronda Rousey

The Baddest Woman On The Planet made her official WWE debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble after months of hype and rumors, with fans spending the entire night questioning whether or not Ronda Rousey would finally debut in WWE.

Many people thought she would be the #30 entrant into the Women's Royal Rumble match, actually winning the match itself, and when she wasn't part of the match at all some fans questioned whether or not it would actually happen.

However, after the match ended and the PPV seemed to be ending, WWE pulled out one of its biggest ever signings as Ronda Rousey made her first official WWE appearance in a moment that changed women's wrestling forever.

8 Goldberg

WWE struggled to pick up many of WCWs top names after they purchased the company, but one of the names the company did pick up was Goldberg, and the company gave him a major debut, the night after WrestleMania XIX.

Even though Goldberg's initial run with the company wasn't as great as many had hoped, his debut certainly started things in the right way as he appeared at the end of the show, letting The Rock know he was next.

The former WCW star then nailed Rocky with a huge Spear and showed the world that he had finally arrived, even if it was a bumpy road afterwards.

7 John Cena

When WWE debuts brand new names who are not well known to the WWE Universe it can be very tricky to make the fans engage in any way at all, as they have no real reason to care about them until they see what they are capable of.

That is exactly why the debut of John Cena was so well done as the young kid managed to make a name for himself straight away by taking the fight to one of WWE's biggest names in Kurt Angle.

Even though Cena lost his match, he was immediately put on the map by Cena, especially when he was given praise by The Undertaker later on in the night backstage.

6 Big Show

It might seem like Big Show has been around in WWE forever at this point, but he was previously a top WCW star, known as The Giant, and he had a very solid career in the company, building his reputation and stock.

This is why he was considered a massive (no pun intended) acquisition for WWE, and his debut was certainly a surprising moment as he debuted during a steel cage match between Vince McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Big Show came through the ring itself and destroyed Austin, although he did actually cost McMahon the match, which slightly weakened the impact that he was able to have. However, that doesn't take away from this being one of the biggest debuts of all time.

5 The Undertaker

The Undertaker has had some incredible surprise returns throughout his WWE career, and he certainly boasts the greatest entrance in the history of the sport, but his WWE debut wasn't too bad either.

Despite original plans seeing Undertaker take the Gobbildy Gooker's place, WWE thankfully saw sense and brought the Deadman out at Survivor Series as the fifth mystery man on Ted DiBiase's team.

His reaction didn't gain the loudest ovation on this list, but 'Taker certainly made his presence known and was shown as a dominant force early on.

4 Sting

Whilst AJ Styles was a name WWE fans never thought they would see wrestle in the company, the biggest name that nobody thought would ever work with Vince McMahon was the Icon, Sting.

However, at Survivor Series 2014, the man who had never made the transition from WCW to WWE finally made the leap as Sting appeared out of nowhere to take out Triple H in a truly shocking way to end the PPV.

Whilst WWE never got Sting at his peak, the reaction from the crowd for this moment was one of the loudest in WWE history as the fans showed their happiness for the Stinger.

3 The Radicalz

WWE managed to pick an incredible amount of talent when they signed Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn, and Dean Malenko all at once, and the company didn't waste any time in debuting them all.

Only two weeks after the group had left WCW they were able to debut on the front row of WWE as they got involved in a match as Al Snow and Steve Blackman faced The New Age Outlaws.

The Radicalz destroyed them all, showing just how talented they were, giving WWE a big victory in the Monday Night Wars as WWE quickly added four big stars to the roster.

2 Kane

This was one WWE debut that had been hyped up for a while, with the mysterious brother of The Undertaker being speculated about for some time, which led to many fans wondering just who the mystery talent could be.

At Badd Blood: In Your House, the world found out exactly who Kane was as the Big Red Monster marched down to the ring, with Paul Bearer by his side, with the giant wrestler looking like something straight out of a horror movie.

Nothing quite like Kane had ever been seen in WWE before as he made his way to the ring, shooting fire out of the turnbuckles, breaking into the steel cage to confront his brother, in what was an incredibly iconic moment.

1 Chris Jericho

The WWE legend and current AEW star have always done his best to stand out, having had some of the greatest surprise returns of appearances in wrestling history, with Chris Jericho always wanting to come back slightly different.

However, it was his original WWE debut that was the greatest of all time, after weeks of build-up with a countdown clock appearing for weeks in 1999, the clock would eventually stop slap bang in the middle of a promo from The Rock.

Interrupting The Rock was a clear way of showing that someone big was arriving, and it was none other than former WCW star, Y2J Chris Jericho, who went on to cut a killer promo to introduce himself to the world of WWE.
