Dave Meltzer at The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting a pretty interesting tidbit about the influence of the UFC on the Goldberg v. Lesnar match at Survivor Series. And that the announcers for the match were told to call it like a fight - unlike the other matches that took place that evening.
You see, apparently the WWE thinks that the wrestling audience of today is familiar enough with the UFC and know that fights can have very quick and explosive finishes.
And using that reasoning, the WWE believed that no one wouldn't feel ripped off or unsatisfied with how the Goldberg v. Lesnar fight finished. Well, they were wrong. Although, I think we all know, no matter what would have happened during the fight, there would have been unsatisfied fans. You can't please everyone!
