John Cena returned to WWE during Raw on Monday night, making an appearance to celebrate his 20th anniversary as part of the company.

The episode was a memorable one, despite Cena not actually wrestling, and was filled with backstage interactions, including one with Theory.

Cena has been involved in exchanges with the United States Champion via social media lately. He named Theory his current favorite star before claiming the latter is the wrestler who most needs an Attitude Adjustment.

It is expected that the two could have a match soon, with a SummerSlam showdown thought to be on the cards, yet Cena did point out that he doesn’t know when he will return to the ring.

Why A Match Hasn't Been Advertised

According to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer, WWE would have announced a match between the two for SummerSlam if that was in the plans. He suggests they could hold off until WrestleMania 39.

"However, Cena is not announced for any future TV dates and given how many tickets he moved in Laredo, if he was announced for a show, he’d move more tickets right now than anyone except Dwayne Johnson,” he said (H/T Sportskeeda.com).

“So it makes no sense not to advertise him. But they wouldn’t do such a match without more of an angle. So the match, which is clearly a direction, may also be delayed for WrestleMania.”

Apart from being Cena’s favorite current WWE star, Theory is a favorite of Vince McMahon, who has plans to make him the next larger-than-life superstar. The 24-year-old has drawn lots of comparisons to Cena, and a match with the 16-time World Champion would likely do wonders for his career.
