12 Hulk Hogan vs Yokozuna (WrestleMania 9)

The advertised main event of Bret Hart vs. Yokozuna at WrestleMania 9 ended in controversial fashion when Yokozuna won the WWE Championship with help from Mr. Fuji. Hulk Hogan made his way to the ring and challenged Yokozuna to an impromptu match.

The new main event saw Hogan instantly beat the monster, both squashing his heat and making Hart look foolish in the process. Hogan’s win here felt like the most unnecessary of all his WrestleMania main events in a match that barely existed.

11 The Mega Maniacs vs Money Inc. (WrestleMania 9)

The previous match for Hulk Hogan on the WrestleMania 9 card came in the form of tag team action. Hogan was trying to find success working with his best friend Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake in a tag team known as the Mega Maniacs.

The successful heel duo Money Inc. (consisting of Ted DiBiase and I.R.S). faced them in a semi-main event for the show. Money Inc. won the match by DQ, with the finish disappointing most viewers. Hogan showed it was time for WWE to find another top star with the night of blunders.

10 Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant (WrestleMania 4)

WWE tried to find more magic with the Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant rivalry at WrestleMania 4. Hogan and Andre met in the quarterfinals of a one-night tournament to crown a new WWE Champion. The byes would put Hogan and Andre against each other in their first matches.

A lackluster five-minute match ended in DQ to eliminate both men from the tournament. WrestleMania 4 was the first WrestleMania and only WrestleMania of the first nine years to not be headlined by Hogan. His night ended early with a forgettable match.

9 Hulk Hogan vs Sid Justice (WrestleMania 8)

WrestleMania 8 was the one of the most egregious actions of Hulk Hogan dominating the main event scene. WWE went with Randy Savage vsx Ric Flair as the match for the WWE Championship, with Hogan facing Sid Justice as the double main event.

Instead of the better match with the title on the line closing the show, Hogan received another main event against Sid. Both men struggled to get on the same page and the match ended with Hogan receiving a win via DQ.

8 Hulk Hogan vs Sgt. Slaughter (WrestleMania 7)

Ultimate Warrior started to tank as the WWE Champion ahead of WrestleMania 7, causing WWE to go with a unique new main event. Sgt. Slaughter turned heel to become an anti-American character, defeating Warrior to win the WWE Championship along the way.

The transitional title reign only happened so Hulk Hogan could challenge Slaughter for the title at WrestleMania 7 in the main event. Hogan and Slaughter had an average match that ended with Hogan once again capturing the WWE Championship.

7 Hulk Hogan and Mr. T vs Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff (WrestleMania 1)

Many fans forget that the first WrestleMania main event actually was a tag team match. Hulk Hogan teamed with actor Mr. T, utilizing the celebrity to get new fans as they faced off against the heel duo of Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff.

The tag match was nothing special when it came to work rate, but the big match feel made it a great decision. Hogan and Mr. T pulled off the win with legendary boxer Muhammad Ali as a special guest referee. Ali raising the hands of Hogan and Mr. T to close the show was the vision McMahon had for WrestleMania all along.

6 Hulk Hogan vs King Kong Bundy (WrestleMania 2)

The second WrestleMania event would take place with events in three different locations. Hulk Hogan once again closed the show with the official main event against King Kong Bundy. The match would see them square off in a steel cage for the WWE Championship.

Hogan and Bundy told the story of the big man trying to use his size to win the match, but Hogan overcame as usual to retain the title. Fans ate it up as Hulkamania was still red-hot in dominating the wrestling industry.

5 Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant (WrestleMania 3)

The match between Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3 could be the most important in the show’s history. This event had a record-breaking crowd for WWE, as interest for Hogan and Andre was the first major attraction at WrestleMania.

4 Hulk Hogan vs Randy Savage (WrestleMania 5)

3 Hulk Hogan vs Vince McMahon (WrestleMania 19)

The personal issues between Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon throughout the years became part of their storyline in 2003. Hogan and McMahon finally had the chance to beat each other up in the ring with a street fight at WrestleMania 19.

Both men shocked the world with a great performance that held its own on the same card as Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin vs. The Rock, and Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle. The visual of McMahon delivering a leg drop off a ladder or a bloody Hogan Hulk’ing up saw them hit a home run.

2 Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior (WrestleMania 6)

Ultimate Warrior started catching on as a hot act during his Intercontinental Championship reign. WWE went all in for a dream match of both top faces, Warrior and Hulk Hogan, facing off in a title vs. title match for both the IC Championship and WWE Championship.

Hogan and Warrior created magic in a match that had the fans reacting to everything from start to finish. Warrior scored a massive victory cleanly defeating Hogan as the audience loved seeing a new star elevated.

1 Hulk Hogan vs The Rock (WrestleMania 18)

The return of Hulk Hogan to WWE following a nearly nine-year absence would see him have his best WrestleMania match and arguably the best match in show history. WrestleMania 18 had the attraction match of Hogan facing off with The Rock.

Both men had similarities in terms of their star power, but the story of a legend vs a top active star had the audience cheering for the previously heel Hogan. This match captivated the attention of every wrestling fan in an instant classic. Rock won the match, but Hogan won more respect from the fans having such a strong performance this late into his career.
