Ever since being let go by the WWE in the summer of 2015, disgraced wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has been rumored to make a return to the company countless times. With the Raw 25th Anniversary Show just a week away, speculation is ramping up that he could be one of the many legends that'll be in attendance.
But according to Andrew Ravens of eWrestlingNews.com, the WWE has not reached out to Hogan about an appearance for the show, as they're worried "how sponsors would react to the move." As such, it's very unlikely that The Hulkster will make his anticipated return in the immediate future.
Hogan was under a WWE legends contract up until July 2015, when tapes of him using racial slurs were leaked. The company immediately removed all Hogan mentions as well as his merchandise from the website, and distanced themselves as far away as they could from the wrestling icon.
Though Hogan has apologized many times for his remarks, it hasn't been enough to repair some of the damage. Mark Henry and Booker T expressed disappointment in his words, and WWE has still avoided mentioning Hogan since the incident.
In Nov. 2016, Hogan received $31 million in a settlement with Gawker - who released a sex tape of him and a friend's wife. Hogan had initially been rewarded with $115 million. Other than that, he's stayed out of the wrestling spotlight, and his future in the industry is immediately unclear.
It's worth noting that Hogan and Vince McMahon have always had a rocky relationship. Hogan has left the WWE four times - some of them under extremely bitter circumstances. He joined the rival WCW promotion in 1994, and helped them topple WWF in ratings for a few years.
However, the rumors and speculation of Hogan coming back to the WWE will not go away any time soon. Perhaps one more return will happen, but it doesn't appear to be coming up on the Raw 25th Anniversy Show.
