Impact Wrestling is set to perform Bound for Glory—their top pay-per-view event each year—in Ottawa tonight, but the card has been changed. The event will feature seven matches, with four championships belts on the line.
However, Impact announced on their Twitter page yesterday that they had to pull one of the main matches from the event.
Taya Valkyrie released a statement on Twitter, announcing she had to leave and will return to the ring in two months.
I’ll post a video this afternoon and chat w all of you. 2 say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I’m devastated, but I’ll be back in Jan https://t.co/n8HCEueKHW— Lucha Royalty (@TheTayaValkyrie) November 4, 2017
Valkyrie also vowed to face Rosemary when she returns, and that she had to take a leave because of "personal reasons." As such, their match (a First Blood bout), has been canceled, and it remains to be seen if the rematch will happen when Valkyrie returns.
RELATED: TWO NAMES LEAVE IMPACT
Valkyrie—who's engaged to former WWE superstar John Morrison—competed in multiple wrestling promotions around the world before debuting for Impact in September. She has feuded with Rosemary throughout her entire tenure with the company thus far.
Before landing with Impact, Valkyrie had performed for Lucha Underground and independent circuits in Mexico. She signed a developmental contract with WWE in 2011, but never appeared on company programming and returned to independent circuits afterward.
Bound for Glory features Eli Drake vs. Johnny Impact for the Global Championship, Sienna vs. Allie vs. Gail Kim for the Knockouts Championship, and Team AAA vs. Team Impact, among other matches.
With the Hardy Brothers and other stars long gone, it'll be interesting to see the ratings and pay-per-view buys for the show. This year's card isn't as stacked as last years, with Mike Bennett, Maria Kanellis, and The Broken Hardys all in the WWE this time.
Impact Wrestling announced their relationship termination with Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Wrestling two weeks ago. The company is undoubtedly in trouble, and they need a big show tonight if they want to find to remain stable.
