Impact Wrestling is trying to rebuild the roster to have a brighter future moving forward. The regime of Don Callis and Scott D’Amore took over and looked to give it a rebranding to erase the past failures. Talented independent wrestlers like Tessa Blanchard, Brian Cage, and the Lucha Brothers helped them showcase that they could offer an entertaining product.

The following former WWE stars are ranked from worst to best in Impact Wrestling today.

10 Tommy Dreamer

ECW legend Tommy Dreamer left WWE about a decade ago to work on his own schedule. Dreamer joined Impact Wrestling for both an on-screen role wrestling consistently and a producing position behind the scenes to help out the younger talent.

Most of the matches from Dreamer are subpar at this stage in his career, but he provides some name value for a rebuilding company. Impact allows Dreamer to run his House of Hardcore promotion while still keeping his spot in Impact Wrestling.

9 Shera

Mahabali Shera received his first big wrestling break in Impact Wrestling a few years ago. TNA discovered him when running the Ring Ka King promotion in India. Shera was the hometown hero that thrived there before moving to Impact full-time.

The lackluster run ended when his contract expired, and WWE offered him a spot at the Performance Center. Shera never broke out in the WWE system and was released before too long. Impact brought him back and he’s once again struggling to stand out.

8 Madman Fulton

NXT fans will remember Sawyer Fulton for his spot in the Sanity faction before getting removed. Impact Wrestling brought him in under the name of Madman Fulton to join Sami Callihan’s faction oVe as the latest heel in the group.

Fulton is mostly used as a heater for Callihan, but Impact has tried to give him a few major matches on his own. The project of pushing Fulton is a long-term plan with the hopes of building more momentum in longer matches and segments.

7 TJ Perkins

WWE pushed TJ Perkins as the first Cruiserweight Champion by having him win the Cruiserweight Classic. Perkins was the face of the division when the 205 Live show started up to give the cruiserweights their own hour on the WWE Network each week.

The lackluster run of TJP saw him losing the title quickly and moving lower down the card. Impact picked him up when looking to add some new talent to the X-Division. This opportunity is giving him a chance to boost back up his name value after flopping in WWE.

6 Rich Swann

Rich Swann is another cruiserweight that had ups and downs during his WWE career. The presence on 205 Live saw him get over as one of the more beloved faces and even winning the Cruiserweight Championship over The Brian Kendrick.

Swann getting arrested for an alleged domestic violence charge led to WWE suspending him. Even when cleared, WWE felt uncomfortable bringing him back and both parties agreed to a release. Swann joined Impact Wrestling and he has been a top name in the X-Division ever since.

5 Ken Shamrock

The legendary Ken Shamrock wanted to have one final run in professional wrestling after his MMA career ended. Shamrock’s WWE success allowed him to help create the future success of MMA fighters moving to professional wrestling if they were good fits.

Impact booked Shamrock for a few appearances and both parties agreed it should be longer. Shamrock is scheduled to enter the Impact Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2020 for his contributions to wrestling and his role as the first world champion in TNA’s history.

4 Tenille Dashwood

WWE fans will remember Tenille Dashwood as Emma for her various characters on Raw, SmackDown and NXT. The end of her WWE career allowed Dashwood to work for a few new promotions like Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor.

Impact turned out to be the better working relationship for her after having a few feuds in 2019. Dashwood is back on the Impact roster and is expected to be a huge part of the women’s division whenever Impact starts running events again.

3 Rhyno (Known In Impact As Rhino)

Rhyno reportedly turned down a bigger contract from WWE to join Impact Wrestling. The reason for the change was the realization that WWE would continue to keep him home instead of booking him. Rhyno preferred to continue wrestling instead of getting a huge paycheck to sit at home.

Impact hired Rhyno right after his WWE contract ended. They teased a mysterious person hitting the Gore until Rhyno (known in Impact as Rhino) was legally allowed to appear for them on television. Rhino has remained an upper card performer for Impact since coming back to the company that is now his wrestling home.

2 Sami Callihan

NXT never viewed Sami Callihan as being on the same level of bigger signings like Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, and KENTA. Callihan requested his release from his contract after going months without having a storyline on television.

The aftermath of leaving NXT saw him returning to the independent circuit. Impact Wrestling was interest when the new regime took over and wanted names with credibility. Callihan became a breakout star for the new era with an Impact Wrestling World Championship title reign now on his resume.

1 Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam Impact Wrestling 2020

Rob Van Dam has completely reinvented himself for the first time in decades. The face character with a laidback persona that had great matches was no longer working since RVD is no longer capable of the five-star matches.

Impact still wanted him on the roster for the star power and name value attached to his career. The heel turn allowed Van Dam to play a new character that disrespected the young stars while calling them out for stealing his moves. RVD had quite a few entertaining heel promos to give him a new feel in Impact Wrestling moving forward.
