For several years during the mid-nineties, In Your House was a WWE event held between “The Big Five” PPVs. While some of them seemed like glorified house shows, they all contained a series of dark matches for the crowd and then the PPV event for the home crowd.

Later in the event’s history, it became more of a traditional three-hour show. But it usually featured non-stop action. With NXT debuting their own In Your House, it's worth a look back at 10 matches between great superstars you didn’t know happened at an In Your House.

10 Ken Shamrock Vs. Vader - In Your House 15: A Cold Day In Hell

In a No Holds Barred match, the two toughest superstars around beat the tar out of each other. Vader, who was known for being a super-stiff worker, took on Ken Shamrock, the legit World’s Most Dangerous Man.

Shamrock even broke the big man’s nose before making him tap to the ankle lock.

9 Bret Hart Vs. Hakushi - In Your House

If you’re going to kick off a brand new event in the mid-nineties, Bret Hart and Hakushi are the two best guys to do it. Despite not making a big splash in the states, Hakushi was one of the best in the world.

Bret of course was Bret and could have a great match with glue. The match was a back and forth contest that Hakushi was able to show off some aerial skills that at this time were barely seen stateside. The Hitman was able to eke out a win with a Sunset Flip.

8 Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs. Savio Vega; Caribbean Strap Match - In Your House 8: Beware Of Dog

If you ask Stone Cold himself, he’ll tell you that Savio Vega was able to help him in a big way on his early rise to the top of the card. This is one of the matches that fans should look for in the early days of Stone Cold.

The two wrestled in a Caribbean Strap Match for the fate of Ted DiBiase’s employment in WWE on the line. It also has one of the tried and true endings to a strap match you’ll ever see.

7 Bret Hart Vs. Davey Boy Smith - In Your House 5: Seasons Beatings

Three years earlier at Wembley, The British Bulldog and Bret Hart wrestled an instant classic that saw Davey Boy go over huge. There were three major differences this time. First, Davey was clearly the heel.

He didn’t forget the major points of the match. It was also for the WWE title. Bret Hart bled buckets in this family brawl, but unlike in the Bulldog’s home country, he was able to retain the title.

6 Shawn Michaels Vs. Owen Hart - In Your House 6: Rage In The Cage

The end of this show featured one of the most iconic scenes in WWE history - the Phenom pulling Diesel “to hell.” But the other big match on the card was between Shawn Michaels and Owen Hart. While Bret and Shawn always had great technical matches, Owen was able to meet Shawn in the air as well as the mat.

This match was no different, with a shot at the WWE title at WrestleMania XII on the line. Despite Owen being the guy who storyline-injured Shawn, he couldn’t get the job done here.

5 The Rock Vs. Ken Shamrock Vs. Mankind - Breakdown, In Your House

In your best Vince McMahon voice, say, “It’s all breaking down at Breakdown: In Your House!” Several matches at this point event were triple threats, but this might have been the wildest one.

Inside a cage, The Rock took on two men who live to fight in cages - Ken Shamrock and Mankind. The three men fought to escape the cage and maim one another, but it would be The Great One walking away as the Number One Contender.

4 Shawn Michaels Vs. Mankind - In Your House 10: Mind Games

There are several matches in Mick Foley’s career that transcend his usual penchant for violence and show that he’s much more than a crash test dummy. Mankind’s match with Shawn Michaels at Mind Games is right at the top of that list.

It’s not just one of the best In Your House Matches, it’s one of the best matches period. Foley takes wrestling to a whole different level trying to keep pace with Shawn Michaels.

3 Dude Love Vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin - Unforgiven: In Your House

The Austin Era had begun at WrestleMania XIV, and Mick Foley was harboring some resentment. For all he gave to the business, he felt he always overlooked.

Dude Love would come after Stone Cold with all that he had at the first-ever Unforgiven. The Micker unloaded on Austin and vice versa in an outright brawl that the Attitude Era would come to be defined.

2 Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs. Bret Hart - In Your House 14: Revenge Of ‘Taker

No matter how much of a thorn Stone Cold was in Bret Hart’s side, The Hitman was always able to get the best of the Rattlesnake in the ring. But at the Revenge of the 'Taker event, that was not the case.

The Texas Rattlesnake was able to get the better of Bret, thanks to the overzealous Hart Foundation, who caused the DQ.

1 Shawn Michaels Vs. Diesel - In Your House 7: Good Friends, Better Enemies

In his first WWE title match after WrestleMania XII, Shawn Michaels took on his former best friend, Diesel in a No Holds Barred match. Shawn worked quicker and tougher than he ever had before.

He's also been able to push Diesel to work quicker and tougher than he normally works too. Diesel even grabbed Maurice Vachon's prosthetic leg to swing at Shawn. HBK was still able to prevail, sending Diesel packing in his last televised WWE match for six years.
