Influential Backstage Name Leaves WWE

The WWE is seeing names leave a lot these days, and they may have lost a very influential backstage presence.

Long-time wrestler Jimmy Jacobs—who has spent part of the WWE's creative team since 2015—is no longer with the company.

According to Ryan Satin from Pro Wrestling Sheet, Jacobs has left the WWE. It's unknown if he was released or if Jacobs left on his own terms for the time being. It's speculated that Jacobs may have been let go for posting this photo with the bullet Club on his Instagram account.

According to Satin, Jacobs found himself in hot water for posting the photo, as the company was far from pleased about the Bullet Club's Raw invasion. Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided this update late on Wednesday evening.

WWE has been active in their budget cuts, going as far as cutting pyro from entrances, so Jacobs' release, for this reason, shouldn't surprise many.

Jacobs had an active career in many wrestling promotions around the world. This includes Ring of Honor, Combat Zone Wrestling, and others. He made brief appearances for the WWE in 2005, and joined their creative team as a writer in 2015.

Jacobs never appeared much on WWE television but played a key role in many storylines. In fact, Chris Jericho claimed that it was Jacobs' idea for Y2J to introduce with The List of Jericho:

"He came up to me one day and said, 'what if we do something where you put somebody on this list?' I'm like, 'I knew this guy once who had a list of people he didn't like.' I'm like, 'oh, that sounds funny.' So I said it and it kind of got a reaction."

Jacobs' release from the WWE is another reminder that everyone should be careful on social media. It just takes that one post for someone to lose their job. But we'll see if there's more to this story that hasn't been told yet.
