The brackets for WWE's Intercontinental title tournament on SmackDown have been unveiled.
The first round matchups announced were:
- Daniel Bryan vs. Drew Gulak
- Jeff Hardy vs. Sheamus
- AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
- King Corbin vs. Elias
Elias vs. Corbin then faced-off against each other in the first tournament match. The finish of the match came about after Corbin destroyed his opponent's guitar, then got hit with a knee to the face after getting back in the ring allowing Elias to get a roll up pinfall victory.
Daniel Bryan advanced in the tournament over Gulak later in the night.
As we previously reported, Sami Zayn was stripped of the Intercontinental Championship this week. No official word on why he's been absent from TV at this point, but he's been tweeting in character condemning WWE's decision to take his title.
