20 Alexa Bliss: Never wrestled on NXT TakeOver

via sescoops.com

Alexa Bliss is one of the top success stories of the Women’s Evolution. Bliss' main roster call-up has seen her involved in top stories on both Raw and SmackDown over the past few years. Bliss is often brought up when discussing the most noteworthy NXT successes.

It is easily forgotten that Alexa rarely received major matches during the NXT run. Bliss remained below the Four Horsewomen of NXT, Asuka, Nia Jax, and a few others. Alexa never even had a match on any of the NXT TakeOver specials to spotlight the promotion’s top talents. No one expected her to dominate as much as she has on the main roster.

19 Lana: Had her first match at WrestleMania

via pinterest.com

Lana achieved a rare feat that very few main roster wrestlers can say. The first official match of her WWE career came at WrestleMania. It happened to be on the kick-off show and she was part of a ten-woman tag match, but the fact that her first ever match took place on the biggest stage shows how much faith WWE had in her.

WrestleMania 32 featured Lana teaming with Summer Rae, Naomi, Tamina, and Emma losing to the face team of Brie Bella, Eva Marie, Alicia Fox, Natalya, and Paige. Lana was a huge part of the storyline, trying to disrespect Brie on the road to WrestleMania. It was the first match for Lana, as she’d become part of the active roster over a year later.

18 Zelina Vega: Was a Champion in Impact

via zelina-vega.net

Zelina Vega is one of the forgotten wrestlers that currently work in WWE and used to wrestle for TNA/Impact Wrestling. Everyone knows that AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Bobby Roode had main event runs in TNA. Vega, however, was a lesser-known part of the roster, working under the name of Rosita.

The duo of Rosita and Sarita (current WWE trainer Sarah Stock) won the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship. These titles weren’t very respected, as they were often involved in comedic angles. Vega’s team feuded with male wrestler Eric Young and his scripted girlfriend ODB for the Knockouts Tag Team titles. The success of managing NXT Champion Andrade Almas was likely a bigger highlight for Vega than holding gold in Dixie Carter's TNA.

17 Sonya Deville: Eliminated three weeks into Tough Enough

via heightline.com

Sonya Deville is one of the few success stories to come from the most recent season of WWE Tough Enough. The reality show, as it always has, featured wrestling hopefuls looking to land a guaranteed contract with WWE. Deville, who was billed under her real name of Daria Berenato, did not have a great showing on the reality show.

Most fans forget that Sonya was eliminated just three weeks into the show and rarely did anything to stand out to fans. WWE luckily offered her and other contestants smaller contracts to train at the Performance Center. This is where Deville stood out to earn a spot in NXT and eventually on the main roster.

16 Mickie James: Second most reigns for original WWE Women's Championship

via pwmania.com

The lineage of the original WWE Women’s Championship featured many of the all-time greats holding the title. Trish Stratus, Lita, and The Fabulous Moolah stand out for their roles as memorable champions. One current WWE star added to the legacy of the title during her prime.

Active WWE star Mickie James deserves to be mentioned when discussing the great Women’s Champions in WWE. James is second only to Stratus in the rankings for most reigns. Stratus has the most at seven title reigns, while James was right after her with five. James can still go in the ring today, but now that she mostly puts over younger talent, her prior run as the staple of the division is how she will mostly be remembered.

15 Liv Morgan: Teamed with Charlotte in first ever match against Nia Jax and Billie Kay

via wwe.com

Liv Morgan is currently having fun as part of the Riott Squad faction. The real-life friendship of Morgan, Ruby Riott, and Sarah Logan sees them showing off that chemistry in the form of their matches and promos together. Morgan spent a few years in the Performance Center and NXT after Enzo Amore got her hired.

The first-ever match for Morgan featured quite a few familiar names. Morgan teamed with top NXT face Charlotte Flair against fellow newcomers at the time Billie Kay and Nia Jax on an NXT house show. The team of Morgan and Flair scored the win, but management mostly wanted all three newcomers to learn from working with Charlotte.

14 Bayley: Ended Charlotte's undefeated streak

via wwe.com

Bayley was one of the biggest contributors to the women’s evolution during her time in NXT. The story of Bayley’s rise as the ultimate underdog led to her having incredible matches with Sasha Banks that made women’s wrestling the talk of the wrestling world.

Bayley instantly entered a storyline with Charlotte Flair during her time on Raw. Instead of going with a slow build, WWE pushed Bayley right away, having her defeating Flair for the Raw Women’s Championship multiple times. Flair had an undefeated PPV winning streak going for well over a year. WWE picked Bayley to be the one to end it in a lackluster manner that hurt her in the long run, but she still achieved the major win.

13 Ruby Riott: Holds victory over Johnny Gargano

via dailyddt.com

Intergender wrestling is not allowed in WWE, but many current female wrestlers did find take part in it on the independent wrestling scene. Ruby Riott used to take part in many matches against male wrestlers under the name of Heidi Lovelace before landing a deal in WWE.

One noteworthy match featured Riott teaming with independent wrestler JT Dunn against the team of Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae in Dreamwave Wrestling. Riott scored the win over Gargano for her team. WWE fans would be surprised to realize one of the ladies on the roster has defeated a male NXT wrestler in the past.

12 Alicia Fox: Longest tenured woman on roster

via 24wrestling.com

Alicia Fox is not one of the most important women on the roster when it comes to storylines, but the role as a locker room leader is important to WWE. Most fans think of Mickie James, Natalya, and a few others when ranking the veterans with presence.

Fox technically has been on the roster longer than any of the other ladies. James left the company for a while and Fox signed with WWE shortly before Natalya. Fox remains the longest tenured wrestler for the women’s division and WWE views her with respect for this. If she joined the company three or four years later, WWE may not have developed such loyalty for Fox.

11 Paige: Youngest female champion in WWE history

via twitter.com

The fact that Paige is only 26-years-old is quite surprising when it comes to just how much she’s done in her career. WWE signed Paige at just 18, but she was working for many years after debuting as a teenager on the British wrestling circuit.

Paige was the first woman to get the proverbial ball and run with it in NXT. She was the first NXT Women’s Championship at just 20-years-old and would get called up to the main roster within a few years. Paige was the youngest female to hold a main roster title at 21 when she defeated AJ Lee for the Divas Championship in her Raw debut.

10 Ronda Rousey: Took part in indie wrestling match spot outside WWE

via f4wonline.com

Ronda Rousey has only worked for WWE in the professional wrestling world, but her fandom has taken her to other shows. Before signing with WWE, Rousey frequently attended live shows for independent promotion PWG in California along with other members of the MMA Four Horsewomen.

One specific match featured her getting involved. Two current NXT stars worked in PWG at the time and wanted to get Rousey involved. Tommaso Ciampa held Oney Lorcan in the crowd as Rousey chopped Lorcan in the chest. It was a fun moment that helped Rousey get into the wrestling spirit before signing with WWE.

9 Mandy Rose: The Miz saved her on Tough Enough

via heavy.com

Mandy Rose has a chance to become a huge star for WWE whenever she gets her first major push as a singles star. Many important people in WWE love the potential of Rose. This all started back during the most recent season of Tough Enough, where she was billed under her real name of Amanda Saccomanno.

Rose was reported as the internal favorite of Vince McMahon and Triple H to win the contract. Fans voted her out one week before guest judge The Miz used his “save” to prevent her from elimination. Rose started playing up a heel character on the show that allowed her to get to the finals before falling short. The charisma shown after The Miz’s save made Mandy guaranteed to get a smaller contract by WWE even after elimination.

8 Maria Kanellis: One of the first women involved in a New Japan match since Chyna

via foxsports.ph

Maria Kanellis currently is trying to find momentum with her husband Mike (Bennett) Kanellis on the 205 Live brand. Both performers worked well together during her time away from WWE with great stints in Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling and New Japan.

One historic moment for Maria outside of WWE featured her being one of the first two women to compete in a New Japan match since Chyna 13 years earlier. Maria teamed with Mike and tag partner Matt Taven against Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows and Amber Gallows. She was arguably the biggest female star for New Japan in the company's history.

7 Becky Lynch: Trained by Finn Balor

via wwe.com

The wrestling scene in Ireland was tough to make waves in, even though quite a few Irish wrestlers are on the WWE roster today. Everyone worked hard in different ways to find success and get on WWE’s radar.

Becky Lynch was originally trained by fellow WWE star Finn Balor. The career of Balor had yet to take off, but he was doing his best trying to teach the basics to trainees in the area. Lynch learned the art from Balor, as both would go on to accomplish huge things. Both Becky and Finn now have spots on the WWE roster, living their dream after training together in small gyms just hoping for a chance.

6 Natalya: Took part in first women's Tables Match

via sportzwiki.com

WWE is doing many "first" matches involving the women’s roster today when it comes to the gimmick matches. One rare instance of the past era being allowed to make history featured Natalya in a first-ever match.

The tag team of Natalya and Beth Phoenix defeated the heel duo of Michelle McCool and Layla (aka LayCool) in a Tables Match. It was a wild visual as the ladies were never allowed to have such matches at the time. Natalya has stated this was among the proudest moments of her career especially since Beth is a close friend and mentor. Time will tell if Natalya will have another Tables Match in her career.

5 Sasha Banks: Four Raw Women's Championship reigns, Zero successful defenses

via 24wrestling.com

Sasha Banks is arguably the greatest NXT Women’s Champion of all time when looking back at her classic matches with Bayley and Becky Lynch. Banks, Lynch, and Charlotte Flair's main roster call-up had fans expecting the Legit Boss to be the one that would break out, but she remains a distant third of the three.

One reason for Sasha falling lower down the card is that she never has a respectable title reign. Banks has won the Raw Women’s Championship four times with three wins over Charlotte Flair and one over Alexa Bliss. WWE booked Sasha to lose every single time on the first defense. Fans still have hope Banks will have one legitimate title reign on Raw or SmackDown.

4 Asuka: Longest recognized WWE undefeated streak of all-time

via wwe.com

Asuka was introduced to NXT in the best of ways. Triple H respected her credible career as one of the top female wrestlers in Japan history. Asuka debuted in NXT with an undefeated streak that started to gain hype organically. Once she defeated Bayley to become NXT Women’s Champion, Asuka was a top star for NXT.

Triple H even protected the streak by having her keep it when debuting on the main roster by relinquishing the NXT Women’s Championship. WWE recognizes Asuka as having the longest undefeated streak in their history. The social media posts celebrated her having the record when surpassing Goldberg as the top unbeaten wrestler of all-time until her eventual loss to Charlotte Flair.

3 Naomi: Only remaining woman left from NXT's all-female season

via wwe.com

The original NXT show featured competitions between developmental wrestlers. Everyone tried to impress enough to win the contest and debut on the main roster. NXT Season 3 featured an all-female cast of performers hoping to land a contract.

Kaitlyn won the season, with future stars like AJ Lee, Naomi, and Maxine (currently Lucha Underground's Catrina) all thriving in the industry. Naomi is the only person from that season to remain under contract throughout the years. Kaitlyn and AJ won titles first, but Naomi played the long game to become a fixture in the Women’s Revolution. It appears Naomi will remain in WWE for the long-term and has the chance to have a legendary career.

2 Carmella: Only person other than CM Punk to win multiple MITB matches

via Wikipedia

The Money in the Bank Ladder match is one of the biggest specialty matches in WWE today. Every wrestler wants to win the match to have a title shot as Vince McMahon often picks someone he views as a future champion.

Carmella was the first and second female winner of the match, as a rematch was made after the controversial ending. The briefcase win would lead her to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship earlier this year. Carmella is the only person other than CM Punk to have two Money in the Bank wins in her career. Given Punk will likely never return to WWE, Carmella has a realistic shot to be the only three-time winner if she can get another chance to compete in the women's MITB match in the future.

1 Charlotte Flair: Only woman to hold Raw, Smackdown, NXT, and Divas Championship

via wwe.com

Charlotte Flair has become the most decorated female in WWE history despite still being in her prime. The short career of Charlotte has seen her accomplish everything possible in the company already. Charlotte is the only as of this writing to be the Raw Women’s Champion, SmackDown Women’s Champion, NXT Women’s Champion and Divas Champion.

The historic Divas Championship reign of Nikki Bella ended at the hands of Charlotte. This led to Charlotte being the final Divas Champion before the Women’s Championship was brought back. Charlotte has dominated both Raw and SmackDown in the era of the brand split. No woman has been given more opportunities in the Women’s Evolution and Charlotte has hit a home run every single time.
