It was reported this past weekend that WWE had placed a bid in order to buy TNA, currently owned by Dixie Carter, Billy Corgan, Canada's Fight Network and Aroluxe.
Dave Meltzer has now reported that there is a serious offer from WWE, but it was described as a backup option in case no one else steps forward to buy TNA. It was also reported that WWE's main source of interest in TNA would be for their video library, as it includes many matches featuring current WWE talent.
With former TNA stars like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode and Eric Young, it makes sense that WWE would want that library.
The Impact Wrestling owners want a deal in place by October 2nd. The front-runners for purchasing the company remain company president Billy Corgan and a second unnamed party.
