Jake Hager has told new WWE signing Cain Velasquez he can't simply "walk off the street" and have a Hall of Fame match ahead of his upcoming title fight with Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel.

The AEW star, who's still attached to Bellator, returned to the wrestling scene as a shock feature at Dynamite's TNT premiere earlier this month and should know what it takes to be a full-time wrestler, having worked with WWE, as well as multiple other promotions over the years.

Velasquez also made a surprise wrestling debut this month, coming on at SmackDown's first FOX show to attack Brock. He has since been booked for a WWE title fight against The Beast Incarnate but Hager has urged him to be wary.

Speaking in an interview with Sherdog's Keith Shillian, Hager insisted that it takes years of training to have a proper wrestling match with another competitor.

“It takes years and years of training to have a great match with somebody," he explained. "As excited that I am that he crossed over, and I love the competition and the comparisons because him and I are the same age and were in college at the same time.

"I don’t think someone can walk off the street and have that Hall of Fame five-star match. It’s going to be an eye-opener for a lot of fans and him.”

Hager noted that it took him three years of development before he was ready for WWE's main roster.

Everyone's Worried About Cain

It appears that there's some concern for Velasquez out there, with Big Show recently warning the new man that Brock's not an easy one to be in the ring with.

The former UFC fighter made his wrestling debut back in August, performing at AAA's TripleMania XXVII. But going up against an athlete like Brock Lesnar in an arena where he's way more experienced is something entirely different.

Velasquez should be pretty confident in his ability to put on a good show, having defeated Brock in real-life dueling some years ago. But we'll see just how smooth his transition will go at Crown Jewel on October 31.
