Debuting for WWE in 1994, Jeff Hardy is a nearly 30 year veteran of pro wrestling who earned loads of accolades and adoring fans in the late 1990s and early 2000s thanks to his game-changing matches, often with his tag team partner and brother Matt. But WWE wasn’t Hardy’s only home, as he had two lengthy stints in TNA (now known as Impact Wrestling), totaling about 11 years.

Hardy ultimately spent a long time in both TNA and WWE, but which one gave fans a better version of Jeff Hardy? The Charismatic Enigma did a lot of great work in both companies, so let’s evaluate.

10 TNA: Performed His Own Entrance Music

There are few greater joys than a pro wrestler performing their own entrance music. Recent history has given fans great (or, in some cases, hilarious) self-performed entrance themes from John Cena, Tyler Breeze, Keith Lee, and Chris Jericho.

Jeff Hardy is a musician himself, performing in the rock band PeroxWhy?Gen, and several of his own songs have served as his entrance music in TNA but was never able to do it in WWE.

9 WWE: Where The Hardy Boyz Were Born

The Hardy Boyz

Jeff Hardy was only 16 years old when he got squashed by Razor Ramon in his WWE debut. In the following years, both Jeff and his brother Matt stuck around with the company, racking up losses and building up their reputation until the high flying Hardy Boyz became fan favorite stars.

Soon enough, the pair were earning titles and burning themselves into fans’ memories with insane spots and awesome matches.

8 TNA: Creative Freedom

Compared to WWE, where everything is pretty tightly controlled, it seemed like Jeff Hardy was allowed a whole lot more creative freedom during his time in TNA. They even put out PeroxWhy?Gen’s records, signaling a strong desire to invest in Jeff Hardy as a top star.

In the ring, aside from obvious stuff like The Final Deletion, Jeff Hardy was also allowed to play with his character, adopting his old persona of Willow from back in his own promotion, OMEGA.

7 WWE: Won More Titles

Jeff Hardy as TNA World Heavyweight Champion

During his time in WWE, Jeff Hardy captured nearly every title a singles competitor can get. Even if you leave out the Tag Team titles -- which Jeff and Matt Hardy have held multiple times -- he’s held top titles like the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship all the way to the Hardcore Title.

In total, Jeff Hardy has enjoyed 24 title reigns in WWE, which is basically WWE Legend status.

6 TNA: Custom Title

Jeff Hardy as TNA World Heavyweight Champion

TNA always seemed all-in on Jeff Hardy -- sometimes in spite of Hardy’s own personal issues getting in the way -- but one of the biggest signs that The Charismatic Enigma was their guy was that they gave him a customized title belt for one of his TNA World Title reigns.

In WWE, that honor has gone to Steve Austin, John Cena, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, and Edge, but never to Jeff Hardy.

5 WWE: Shined In Many Divisions

Jeff Hardy as WWE European Champion

Jeff Hardy’s myriad title reigns stem from the fact that WWE has a huge roster, several TV shows, and numerous championships to win. TNA, a smaller company, has only a handful of championships -- usually Heavyweight, X Division, Tag, and Knockouts, and occasionally a TV title.

So in WWE, even if Jeff Hardy isn’t a candidate for a World Title, he was able to hang out and put on some matches for, say, the European or Light Heavyweight Titles.

4 TNA: Late Period Renaissance

Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, and Bully Ray

Jeff Hardy’s time in TNA can be regarded as a mixed bag thanks to mishap, poor behavior, and TNA being TNA, but that would be discounting a career resurgence for Jeff and Matt Hardy when they reformed as a tag team in the mid-2010s.

Besides The Final Deletion -- which will be discussed later -- Jeff Hardy was in rare form in his last years in TNA, putting on a series of great tag team matches with The Wolves and The Dudleys in both traditional tags as well as three-way gimmick matches.

3 WWE: Victory Road 2011 Did Not Happen in WWE

Jeff Hardy at TNA Victory Road 2011

Many fans' opinions of Jeff Hardy in TNA are colored by one unfortunate, infamous night. It was at the pay-per-view event Victory Road in 2011 where Hardy was supposed to challenge Sting for the TNA World Heavyweight Title, but Hardy came to the ring ridiculously intoxicated, which is obviously an awful condition to be in for a wrestling match.

The result was a 90-second “match” where Sting legitimately held Hardy down to get the pin and served as a nadir for TNA as well as Jeff Hardy himself. By this incident alone, Jeff Hardy was better in WWE.

2 TNA: The Final Deletion

The Final Deletion with Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy

In 2016, Jeff Hardy took part in a storyline with his brother Matt that would draw attention back to the Hardys and TNA as they battled for the Hardy name in a cinematic match called The Final Deletion.

Combining amateur filmmaking, backyard wrestling, and Adult Swim levels of absurdity, The Final Deletion was a cult success so popular that WWE tried to imitate it when they hired back The Hardys.

1 WWE: TLC Matches

Before Jeff Hardy helped to (somewhat ironically) change the game, he legitimately changed the game with his legendary TLC matches in the early 2000s. The first of their kind -- and considered some of the best tag matches in WWE history -- Hardy took part in the first four TLC bouts, which were multi-team matches for the tag titles that involved The Dudleys, Edge and Christian, and others.

These matches are Hardy’s claim to fame, and they’re so influential that WWE has been running a PPV called TLC since 2009.
