There is no confirmation from the WWE on how serious it might be, but multiple reports are coming from people in attendance at the live taping of SmackDown Live in Manchester that Jey Uso, one half of the current SmackDown Live tag team champions, was seriously injured.
The match was Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin and versus the Usos and the Usos lost via count out which meant Jimmy and Jey retained the tag titles. However, the match was reportedly cut short after Jey appeared to suffer a knee/leg injury on a chop block spot.
Just the other night, Sin Cara appeared to be injured in a match with Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin, but was announced as ready to compete in a SmackDown Live match next week. The point is, there really is no definite clarification on how bad the injury is or if this is a work well played by Jey Uso.
If the match being cut short is a sign that Uso is hurt, and if the injury is as bad as those in attendance seem to want to describe the scene, it could directly affect the scheduled match between The Uso's at new Raw tag team champions, Sheamus and Cesaro that is now set to take place at Survivor Series. Should Jey not be able to compete. It leaves a lot of unanswered questions and speculation as to which direction the WWE would choose to go with respect to that match.
A long-term injury would also be devastating for The Uso's who have been nothing short of fantastic as the SmackDown Live's top duo. A show with a weaker tag division, the Uso's and the New Day have been the focal point of that division for weeks, if not months.
We'll report more as it comes and the details are still sketchy but right now, it looks like this could be a real injury and not a planned storyline.
