John Cena discussed his WrestleMania marriage proposal on morning TV this week and got pretty choked up while recalling the moment he popped the question.
WrestleMania 33 provided us with a fair few unforgettable moments. The return to WWE of The Hardy Boyz was the surprise of the night, the actions of The Undertaker at the end of the night still has fans talking, and after their tag team win over The Miz and Maryse John Cena proposed to his now fiance, Nikki Bella.
Although it was a moment that many fans envisioned happening, it was still an extremely touching and emotional thing to see nonetheless. Despite many of the fans opposition to Cena the proposal—and Bella's acceptance of it—got a great reaction from the 75,000 people in the stadium in Orlando when the sixteen time World Champion popped the question.
Right now, Cena is traveling the world promoting new film Ferdinand, a movie about an animated bull for which the WWE Superstar voices the main character. On Tuesday, those travels brought him to London during which he appeared on the morning show Good Morning Britain. Cena discussed his proposal to Bella and got quite emotional as he did so, especially when a clip was aired of the night in question. Cena described it as the best moment of his life and later joked that he purposefully asked Bella to marry him in an environment where she couldn't say no.
It was an extremely romantic moment, but if you know the story behind the proposal then you'll know that it's actually even more touching. Cena actually proposed to Bella quite a while before WrestleMania 33. Cena claims that he first told her that he was going to marry her right before she went into the theater for neck surgery. Since Bella had already been given anesthesia, she didn't remember him telling her that.
Before proposing to Nikki Bella, John Cena had always given off the impression that he didn't want to get married. The former World Champion has actually been married before which is why he wasn't too keen to do it again. Clearly, he changed his mind though and judging by his reaction to the footage on Good Morning Britain, he didn't simply do it to make Bella happy and it's a decision that has made him incredibly happy.
