John Cena hasn't wrestled a match on any of WWE's PPVs so far in 2019. That last time he didn't wrestle on a PPV for a full calendar year was 2001.

Some fans might not want to admit it, but John Cena has defined the last 15 years in WWE. The 16-time World Champion followed in the footsteps of wrestlers such as Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold, heading up the company and leading the way. Looking at the product today, it seems highly likely that Cena will be the last face of WWE.

It also seems likely that no one will have a run quite like Cena's. 17 years on from his main roster debut and he is still not done. Not completely done anyway. His career is winding down, though. Cena is far from full time as his movie career continues to grow, but he does pop back to WWE every now and again.

The last time Cena wrestled a match in WWE was on Raw right at the beginning of 2019. However, since Big Match John hasn't competed on a PPV so far this year, he is about to bring the curtain down on a very impressive record. Cena has competed on at least one PPV per year from 2002 all the way through to 2018. If he doesn't show up for a surprise match at TLC this Sunday, that run will come to an end.

As highlighted by Enterprise90 on Reddit, the last time Cena wrestled on a PPV was Super Show-Down in 2018. On that show, the future Hall of Famer teamed with Bobby Lashley in what was a winning effort against Baron Corbin and Elias. As for the PPV on which Cena's 16-year long record began, that was Vengeance 2002. On that night, Cena defeated Chris Jericho.

Since only seven matches have been announced for TLC so far, as opposed to the usual ten, we haven't ruled out a Cena appearance. He would certainly get a big reaction from the fans if he were to make a shock return. Cena normally returns around this time of year anyway, depending on if he plans to compete at WrestleMania. Showing up at TLC would just make it a couple of weeks earlier than normal.
