On Tuesday afternoon, WWE announced that Daniel Bryan has been cleared to wrestle once again. Bryan then came out on SmackDown Live and thanked the fans and indeed confirmed that he would be back in the ring very soon.

Two years ago, Bryan reluctantly listened to advice from multiple doctors and retired, following a series of concussions plus other brain injuries (including a cut). But fast forward to 2018, and one of the biggest superstars of the 2010s will be right back in the middle of the ring.

TMZ Sports caught up with John Cena and asked him about Bryan's return to the ring. Cena gave some interesting insight about his soon-to-be brother-in-law.

“From a fan’s perspective, I think it’s wonderful because they all want to see him and they know what he’s capable of. From a family perspective, I’ve had a chance to talk with Bryan at great length about his passion for wrestling - it’s what he was born to do, and I know deep down how he feels about it. And to be told that ‘it’s over’ when it isn’t time for it to be over, for him it was very shocking.

...And it’s how ironic that he’s known so much for ‘Yes! Yes! Yes!’ he turns ‘no’ into ‘yes’... There’s no more deserving a person of a moment in the middle of a WWE ring than Bryan Danielson. I’m extremely happy for him, I’m happy for Brie and their family, cause it affects my family - a wonderful day for all of us that are close to Bryan.“

Bryan and wife Brie Bella worked extensively to get cleared by multiple doctors. There were reports that Bryan would leave WWE if they didn't clear him - when his contract expired. Bryan would then have the opportunity to sign with a rival promotion and wrestle there instead.

Bryan's emotional day was interrupted by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, who brutally attacked him at the end of SmackDown Live. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Live noted that he's set to team up with Shane McMahon against Owens and Zayn at WrestleMania 34 in two weeks.

It was an emotional time for the WWE and its fans when Bryan had to retire two years ago. But it's even more emotional (in a much better way, of course), that he defied all odds and will be back in the ring before long.
