Fans are wondering what the future holds for WWE superstar John Cena, but we now have an idea as to which brand he’ll be working on in the coming months.
Cena has wrestled on a part-time basis over the past year, and is currently a “free agent,” assigned to neither the Raw nor SmackDown brand. He last appeared at the Survivor Series pay-per-view, representing the losing blue bland in the 5-on-5 interbrand match.
But according to WrestlingInc.com, the 16-time World Champion is set to appear at a handful of upcoming Raw events. As we already know, Cena will appear at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, looking to win his third.
Cena is also one of the many wrestling legends confirmed to appear at the Raw 25th Anniversary show in two weeks, which’ll feature the returns of Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler and others.
Between Jan. 29 and Feb. 26, Cena will also appear on five episodes of Monday Night Raw, plus two other live shows. Cena will also appear at the SmackDown exclusive pay-per-view, Fastlane, on Mar. 11, 2018.
There hasn’t been a whole lot of speculation as to what the future storylines will be for Cena, but there are some intriguing notes to follow. For one, will he break Ric Flair’s record and become a 17-World Champion in the coming months? WrestleMania 34 is the ideal time for it.
But there have been rumors about Cena not expected to win the Royal Rumble. Does that mean a dream match of Cena vs. The Undertaker on the Grandest Stage of Them All finally happens? We’ll find out soon enough.
The 40-year-old Cena admitted last year that his future with the WWE is fairly bleak. He noted the amount of younger talent, and the man is starting to build up a solid film and television career.
So for all we know, it’s possible that 2018 is one of the final chapters of Cena’s storied wrestling career. If that’s the case, you won’t want to miss him in any of the upcoming shows.
